Hormone Questions

All you clever hormone people, any ideas on this??

For a number of hormone profiles my DHEA levels have been quite high and my Testosterone levels lowish. My Progesterone levels are always way too high for a bloke and my Cortisol lowish. (surprise there)

This can be represented as

DHEA converts to ...........Testosterone
Progesterone converts to....Cortisol

DHEA too high...............Testosterone too low
Progesterone too high.......Cortisol too low

Apparently the same enzymes are used for the conversion of DHEA to Testosterone and for the conversion of Progesterone to Cortisol.
They are
21-lyase
beta hydroxylase

It seems I am either deficient in these enzymes or that I have them and there is something wrong with my gene expression. (I got this from my nutritional Dr, and dunno anything about it, ie the gene expression thing)

Does anyone know about this stuff?

I am a 52 year old male on bioidentical homone replacement (just Testosterone now) with long term moderate depression.

Flavanoids?

I read somewhere that sufficient quantities of any flavanoid will inhibit any enzyme. Perhaps it is one of the flavanoids I am taking. Some of these are
nobiletin
tangeretin
flavanoids from Ginkgo, Baical Scullcap and other chinese medical herbs.
The first two are in a preparation for arthritis. The last two in herbal preparations for the treatment of allergies. And the Ginkgo.
