Gamalate B6..anyone heard of it, tried it???

Posted by jasmineneroli on December 29, 2004, at 18:52:44

Just looking at some other alternatives and came up with the above. Apparently it contains GABA, B6, Magnesium and something called GABOB (nearest "legal" molecule to GH3 (GHB)).
It's touted as being a great anxiolytic and mood stabilizer. It's also rather cheap.

I'm trying to treat my GAD without benzo's and SSRI's etc., and this "sounds" like it might be more direct in its application for this problem.
Any thoughts/ experiences??
Thanks,
Jas

I tried it and found it to be no more effective for anxiety than products like Gabacalm or Gaba-plus by Twinlab. And from my experience, it produces NO effects comparable to GHB.

Thanks for your response.
Hmmmmmmmm, maybe too mild for me then, as well. I've not tried the products you mentioned, but Relora (magnolia bark derived natural anti-anxiety product) did absolutely nothing. Picamilon did more, but not enough.
I already take B6 & Magnesium (part of the formulation) so I'm guessing I won't feel a big difference. I'll keep it on the "back-burner" of ideas.

Picamilon did more, but not enough.

Jas,

If you don't mind, could you tell me where you ordered your Picamilon from. I was under the impression that products containing Gaba could not be imported into Canada. Were you able to find a Canadian supplier or were you lucky enough not to have any problems with Customs?

Thanks.

Tamara

Hi Tamara:
Firstly, GABA, by itself, is available in all my local health food stores. Since it is displayed openly on the shelves, I would be surprised if it's restricted at the moment. There's been a constant shift in "what's OK, and what's not" in recent months. Most amino acids are available ('cept tryptophan), Sam-e is now in my local store, too! (It was "banned" for ages). I think the government guidelines are being tested by various importers.

I ordered my picamilon online, and had no problems with customs. I can't remember what the package said, something vague, but not untruthful!

Take care,
Jas

Thanks Jas. I was surprised when I was told by the one on-line supplement shop that Gaba products could not be sold and shipped to Canadian customers. The other company that did sell and ship the Gaba Plus to me certainly did not try to hide the fact that it was Gaba Plus. And, I remember years ago seeing Gaba for sale at a natural pharmacy in the city where I live and that I used to go to. Maybe the one company was being overly cautious or had dated information. Or, perhaps the prohibition is relatively recent. Well, I am likely going to try to order some Picamilon from the unmentionable site (is that where you got yours?) soon and see what happens.

Sam-e has been available where I live as well.

Take care.

Tamara

Yuk!

Gamalate B6 - horrible, HORRIBLE product. Tried this out about 6 months ago, made my anxiety about 50 times worse. I'm sure it was this - it made me very edgy about 1/2 hour after taking it. Of course can't be sure it was this but I was just a bit anxious before, got this through the post to try, tried it and yuk. Might be something to do with me and normal B6 - don't know.

P5P co-enzyme B6 with zinc worked much better as a comparison B6 combination.

Thx for your response,LOOPS.
I'm not going to be trying the Gamalate B6. Doesn't sound very promising.
I take my B6 as P5P too and think it's a great supplement for me. I've taken B6 as a supplement for nearly 20 years and wouldn't be without it!
