omega 3 increases BDNF ??

Posted by linkadge on September 20, 2004, at 15:28:56

I've heard that it was "hypothesized" that omega 3 boosts BDNF. Does anyone know if there is actual data to suggest this, or is it just a hypothesis?

Darn good question. I emailed Peet. We'll see what he has to say on the subject.

epa is the active component in depression reduction?
and that dha is not?
if it is true that dha competes with epa at cell site, doesn't it then make sense to use the higher epa/dha concentrates rather than the standard sfuff?
you may recall that horrobin was pretty emphatic on this point and that's why he developed kirunal....
as for me i now use metabolic maintenance at 4.5/1 but am going to try krill oil too, curious if you think it would be worth combining the two?

thanks
