Posted by Francesco on January 21, 2004, at 18:49:31

After the umptheenth short trial of traditional meds for my adhd-like syntoms (I'm 28) I would like to go to the suplement route again. Can anyone suggest a schedule ? For obviuous reasons I prefer the guys who are taking the stuff they suggest and find them helpful : )
Thanks !

I have found that omega 3 packs the most punch for ADD. Other useful suplements have been green tea extract - boosts norepinephrine and gaba.

Some people do well on plain old vitamin C (slow release) this works well for ADD'rs with mind noise. High doses (1-2 grams) helps regulate glutamate release, as well as boosting norepiniephrine.

Best of Luck

Thanks for the tips, I think that green tea will be the next to try. I have had strange experiences with fish oil that make me ambivalent toward it. The first time I tried it made me hpyomaniac but it wasn't a controlled brand, it was made by a pharmacist. I don't know what the hell he puts in it, today I have tried it again with ginko, as he suggested, and I feel concentrated and spaced out at the same time, full of energy and so on. I'm wondering if this means anything or I'm just thinking too much ...

Hi out there!
Does anyone have the name of a good site for alternative solutions for kids with ADD/ADHD? I'm a little nervous to give my child supplements without guidance. Her pediatrician is very against the whole idea, of course!
Thanks & peace to all of you!

Sorry I cant help with a specific site, but omega oils and green tea have had some effects for some people. A capsule of omega oil a day and a couple of cups of green tea are unlikely to hurt your child, specially when you consider some of the poisons "modern medicine" often offers.

I'd suggest just trying a few things, but in a structured way so you can tell if things work or not, and just be cautious with dosages and dont overdo things.

Regards
TJ

Good advice. I need to keep a food/activity/sleep record of her and try one thing at a time to see if her concentration & organizational skills improve. She's 7 and doesn't see herself as having any issues - it's always someone or something else! Whatever is going on with her, I'd sure like to nip it in the bud so she doesn't go through life blaming others intstead of taking responsibility by learning compensatory behaviors.
Thanks!
