Codeine

Posted by Qujbo on December 16, 2003, at 20:59:19

Firstly id like to tell you all a bit about myself, I'm 21 years old, I have a good environment, loving patents, loving friends, a great psychologist, great health(I work out regularly and eat healthy) and a great academic success, I'm in my last year of software engineering education in university.

Despite all this I am very very sick, I have been deppressed for 4 years and have horrible anxiety problems. I am in horrible pain(psychologically), I have suicidal thoughts several times a day, every day of my life is full of pain, I harm myself(burning, cutting) and have attempted suicide 2 times.

I have never used any illegal drugs and have no wish for euphoria, all I want is to feel like a nomal person, I want to live, I want to feel alive.

I have been on several anti depressents and benzo's, and have been recieving psycological treatments for over 4 months. They helped me very minimally.

Last month after doing lost of research, I decided to try codeine, I purified 100mg of codiene from OTC painkiller tablets.

And finally after 4 years I felt alive again, I felt like I wanted to live again. I cannot express the happiness this brought over me. Since then I have been using codeine every 3 days, for 6 months. I cannot express how gratefull I am of this drug, It has braught me back to life, it as saved my life, I dont want want to kill myself anymore, I dont have to suffer the torture that have went through for all this time, I feel human. I can work, I can study, I feel like I can do anything I want.

All I can say to people that are suicidal and in constant torture is try this drug. Its not worth killing yourself, there is a solution.

I dont recomend people with mild deppression try this drug as it has set backs, only if you are considering taking you life and just cant handle the pain.

I know there are going to be people who will oppose my view, but life full of pain, is not life. The only way you can underdstand this is by experience it.

Please be very careful with yourself.

Most of us do understand extreme mental pain and it's consequences. We also need to understand the consequences of our actions.

You said you only take it every 3 days?

How does it make you feel?

It certainly sounds like it's helping you. Have you talked with your therapist or doctor about this? The fact that it helps you could give some useful information as to the state of your brain chemicals, I'd think.

Take care, Kath

Kath the reason I take it every 3 days is to control my intake so that I dont become addicted.

Codeine, as I stated im my first post makes me feel normal. By that I mean the symptoms of anxiety and depression go away while im on. It alters my mood dramatically. Thats if I keep to 80-100mg. If I raise the dosage to about 120-150mg or higher I begin to experience euphoria, but thats not what I'm after.

I have talked to my therapist about my use of codeine, he doesnt approve, but nevertheless doesnt think too much of it considering it helps me a lot.

codeine does raise dopamine levels in the brain, and I know it probobly has alot of other actions I do not understand. Maybe you should ask your therapist if isolating and trying to correct your dopamine system would work? There are probobly drugs that can lift your mood like codeine and do not have the addictive and euphoric properties of an opiate... but I'm not an M.D. so I could be completley wrong so this is just a suggestion.

Turtle do you know any drugs that raise dopamine levels?

Anyways considering the addiction set back of codeine, this is a trade off im willing to make. I'd rather become an addict then commit suicide. I'm sure anyone in my situation will understand.

ANmd I'd like to repeat again, I recommend codiene only and only to people who have serious mental issues such as me. Please be carefull its not a drug to be toyd around with, it can be very addictive.

the first thing I would try is l-tyrosine which is the precursor to dopamine, and you can even get it at Wal-Mart for about $6. I would ask your doctor about it first if you are taking any medications.

Then there is Deprenyl which you would have to get a perscription for..
------ taken from erowid.org
"Selegiline, bettern known as Deprenyl, is an MAO-B Inhibitor in small quantities (under 25 mg) and also inhibits MAO-A in larger quantities. It was the first selective inhibitor of MAO-B. Selegiline is marketed as a Parkinson's disease cure. Other reported positive effects include cognitive enhancement, increased libido in men, and reports of life-span extension."
----
it being an MAOI you would have lots of restrictions on what medications you can take, many OTC and perscriptions meds are dangerous when combined with an MAOI. Some foods cannot be eaten while taking an MAOI becasue it inhibits the breakdown of trysine (a chemical in food that casues hypertension), and the result can be a hypertensive crisis. The best thing to do though would be to talk to your doctor about this, and just take my suggestions as just something you can ask your doctor about. I am not a doctor and the things I recommend I don't really have any experience with how some people react to it. So ask your doctor about maybe something being up with your dopamine system, becasue codeine has such a dramatic effect on you. and also I get very happy when I take codeine too, I'm pretty sure that's a common response to the drug, but I'm not about to start to take it on a regualr basis. I'm sure opiate addiction is hell so talk to your doctor ASAP!!!

Leo33 I dissolve the tablets which contain 500mg paracetamol and 8mg Codeine in water then filter out the paracetamol xxx.

The solution will contain the codeine so you can chug it down, it tastes like crap but you can mask the taste with some fruit juice or something.

But please be carefull with the filtering stage, taking large ammounts of paracetamol is very dangerous to your liver.

I think it would be better not to explain how to produce medication yourself:
