Oh I was not serious

I was referring to this:
" he may have numerous posters accuse him of blocking St James due to the nature of the post"

Please don't. We all have noticed you get preferential treatment from Bob. No need to make it "bigger". I know I feel like a lesser being in Dr. Bob's eyes because of it, and I'm sure everyone else does too. Your point is made.

Congratulations.

I think this thread has offered an opportunity for many people to learn and make adjustments. I have.

This is not something I wish to be congratulated
about. No one should receive preferential treatment from Bob.

I think Karen_kay got it right.

To me, it appears that Dr. Bob has been penalized for his compassion.

Then again, if Dr. Bob were to block St James for the post, he may have numerous posters accuse him of blocking St James due to the nature of the post

Why would anyone have a problem with my block, considering what I called dr bob ?

He sould show that compassion elsewhere, to other posters.

I think St James picked his subject heading to be so heinous that no one would have a problem with Bob blocking him, (especially after his numerous P.B.C's) in an attempt to show clearly that there is favoritism here. Things aren't always being overlooked, or slipping by.

If anyone should feel like a lesser human, it should certainly not be those who are not among the favored it should be the person doing the selecting of the chosen few.

In this case as the outcome could be so easily predicted I can't see it as compassion.

"Wow, Dr. Bob. If I had a bunch of PBC's on my record, and made that statement, I'd pretty much expect a block. I kind of think I'd get one too...."

"We all have noticed you get preferential treatment from Bob. No need to make it "bigger". I know I feel like a lesser being in Dr. Bob's eyes because of it, and I'm sure everyone else does too."

Dinah - I say this with the greatest respect and affection: I can't imagine how you could say this. If stjames is getting preferential treatment, he is hardly the only one. There's no question in my mind that some posters are given great latitude and others wander around here with a scarlett letter on their backs and seem to be given no latitude at all. Most of the time, I have no real problem with Dr. Bob giving some people the benefit of the doubt. I do have difficulties with him pulling the trigger quite a quickly as he sometimes does, and I think his double-the-punishment policy is too harsh in many cases.

I don't condone the way stjames made his point. However, I am upset by the suggestion that he is truly unique because I honestly feel that you would be given as wide or even a wider berth than probably any other poster on this Board. So it strikes me as odd for you to suggest that his treatment of stjames makes you feel lesser in Bob's eyes.

I would also like to point out that one of the dangers of the Admin Board is that when discussing the actions of another poster, it's pretty easy to run afoul of Bob's most stringent civility rules, which, afterall, are there to benefit both the offending and non-offending posters.

Are you accusing me of being uncivil to St. James? I merely told him he had made his point, that I agreed with his conclusions, and requested he not try to make it in a larger way.

I sincerely doubt I would be given wider berth. Not that I would ever attempt to put the matter to a test. But in the past I certainly have *not* gotten preferential treatment. I have cried many tears over this board. And yes, I *do* feel offended at what you said. And I feel hurt.

But if you think I was uncivil to St. James, I have emailed the entire thing to Dr. Bob. If he thinks I am being uncivil, I request that he PBC me.

I have *never* asked for, and to my knowledge, *never* received special treatment.

Hi Dinah.

Perhaps Mair will respond and clarify her statements or describe in other words what she was trying to communicate. I don't want to speak for her. However, I didn't see her as accusing you of anything. It doesn't appear to me that she was commenting at all regarding your civility. As far as your feeling like a lesser person - trust me - you are definitely morer.

(Forgive me, Mair, that I should have made a mistake as that I don't recall with confidence what is your gender).

Why not? What makes you so special that you should not receive special treatment? :-)

We all deserve special treatment.

Well I think we all deserve *equal* treatment.
This is the whole point of what I did, to show that I get special treatment....so special that
I can call people horrable things and not get blocked but Lar defends the truth and gets busted.

Of course, ideally.

Well, you didn't call just *anybody* a horrible thing. You called the moderator a horrible thing. I'm not sure that you would have been treated so specially had you called me a pedophile. I think you would have been treated fairly. Do you think you deserved to be blocked rather than PBC'd? If so, why?

Are you angry that Larry Hoover was blocked?

I am.

Zen was just blocked for 6months for what she said to Dr Bob, and yet the same civility rules were cited to her:
Please don't post anything that could lead others to feel accused or put down.

Is this the first time James has done anything as "spectacular" as this?

As was described earlier by Karen_kay, Dr. Bob was placed in a no-win position. I think it created an unusual situation for which the doctor might not have been well-prepared to handle with precision. Dr. Bob is just a man. I guess he lost this particular chess game.

I think some mistakes were made that will hopefully be corrected, or at least move in that direction.

You know, I honestly can't answer that.
I think the fact that St. James new enough ahead of time that he wouldn't get blocked says something significant though.
I do know he's recieved more P.B.C's without a block than any poster I know of. I worked out that if it had been me, I would be blocked for two years right now (at least)
I've doubted the fairness of the board before, and really didn't want to think it was purposeful.
For me this confirmed what I thought might be only my negative thinking and I appreciate that it has been cleared up (in my mind) so succinctly.

Hmm, I guess I should say "glad I can be of help"
but glad is not how I feel. Why does one have to go to such lengths to prove a point ?

Well, there goes my "special treatment" !
I wish I could of passed it to Lar, ex post facto.
This does beg the point, why me and not him.

Yes Dr. Bob is only human, and is entitled to mistakes. In Larry's case, (as in many others) if he'd honestly believed he'd made a mistake it would have been easy enough to rescind his ever lengthening blocks and thus far he has refused to do so.
