Lithium

Is it safe to add a little bit of Lithoum Orotate as a way to increase Lithium dose? I take Lithium carbonate er 300 mg once a day and want to avoid side effects of increasing the Li carbonate dose.

maybe...something else? would your doctor consider a sedative? a friend...a family member was given low to moderate doses of valium for agitation and such during mood episodes...seemed to work nicely. i don't think he ever took the valium for long periods of time, he never had a problem with gradual discontinuation, and the overall dosage was lower than using high potency sedatives such as Klonopin or Ativan.

just a thought. i'd -personally- try to steer clear of neuroleptics, old or new. maybe lyrica or neurontin?

What illness or symptoms are you using lithium to treat?

It augments Nardil for depression and anxiety.

I wouldn't advise this. There are differences if you search pubmed: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/

I researched Orated a long while back. I can't remember exactly but I think it hangs around longer than carbonate and had different peak plasma times - other differences. At least search there for Lithium Orate and read some of the papers the talk about both.

FWIW I took a little bit of Orate for a few days and I seemed to get more depressed. Why not just ask your doctor for a greater dose of Carbonate?
