Quetiapine (Seroquel) as a recreational drug

Posted by undopaminergic on May 6, 2021, at 8:32:03

I came across this:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5305132/
"Intentional Recreational Abuse of Quetiapine Compared to Other Second-generation Antipsychotics"

I did not enjoy this drug myself. It made me tired and stimulated my appetite. Does anyone here enjoy quetiapine?

i can't imagine over using seroquel. all the info I've read on so called "seroquel abuse" involve people in jails, prisons, and then polydrug users who only use seroquel to counter adverse effects from euphoric drugs of abuse.

I think context is key. using a given drug without a physician's approval is not drug abuse and does not indicate that the substance in question has some sort of street value. :-)

oh yes, seroquel is avilable on the streets .... i used to know someone who was...drug related, and seroquel was value for coming down from speed, and also just getting serozoned stoned. I hate seroquel, it alters my perception and reality, and makes me in very odd mood. Lamotragine is the best mood stablizer and depressive prevention

yeah it's ... partly recreational, it's mainly a come down and a sleeping substance, but it has no euphoria (to my knowedge). Just 'serozoned'

I am just thankful that it puts me to sleep. I do sometimes take additional as-needed Seroquel at night. 150mg. Recreational? Maybe a bit but less so than other drugs. I found MAOI got me pretty high.

it's used on the street called 'quells' to sleep and come down from a methamphetamine high. It's got black market value, because i knew a friend they use it for serozoned and sleep. I guess some people - like the feeling seroquel gives, it said to have antidepressant properties, and they use it for bipolar depression. Seroquel for me, made me altered reality, i don't like seroquel, sometimes psyhicdellic bad mood. It has a calming, and antidepressant effect, and used for sleep. I don't like it at all, only thing i would take it, would be treatment ristsant insomnia

my doctor about 9 months ago, was 600mg for sleep. It made just in psyheidellic bad mood. But black market value, it has a drug liking effect or it wouldnt be used on the streets

Its still hard to imagine, other than for lessening the side effects of other drugs. Some people dont like going to the Dr. so pretty much everything has black market value.

I have never come across a Seroquel junkie consuming tons of it by itsself.

There are numerous accounts that a Seroquel prescription is highly sought after in US prisons. At the right dose, it can induce a dreamy and in the clouds type of feeling. I'd likely take it if I were in a US prison. I believe they are the worst in the western world.

yes, it is used in US prison's. I've read inmates take it, to calm mind or chill out. It's called 'quells' but there are other names, maybe just serouel itself. I rerember, black market value, its not so recreational, but it does calm mind, and makes you sleepy after coming down from methaphetamine high, after it wears off. Yeah they pass it around, in prisons, either for sleep, or just as an antidepressant, calming effect

i'll have to find the articles i read, but yes it is a black market vlaue drug but not euphoric or controlled. It's a calming antidepressant effect, that can eiher make you calm or bad mood like me. I don't know why they say it's for bipolar depression, everytime i took seroquel during the day, i couldnt stand it, i was sleepy, and felt very altered. Everyone is differnt

Im so used to being altered by it, I don't even notice it anymore. Hoping to be able to reduce in the future. Yeah, Drs really loved giving it to me. "It can't hurt". I remember when I took Neuroleptics the first couple of times, I didn't like it. Same reaction as you. No matter which one.
