diazepam is not terribly popular in the US, but it is popular in many other countries. luvox...never was too, too popular in the US. I was briefly given a prescription, and I knew one person on long term treatment with it, so...

? if its working, I guess leave it be.

you are right that a lot of psych drug prescribing seems to go more on what's popular and not on what works...so, xanax is still somehow popular, but valium isn't...luvox never really gained popularity, but all the new antidepressants are popular...on and on it goes.

In many areas Luvox isn't approved for depression. I think Japan is one of the outliers. It's main use is OCD. I think it is a good med and underutilized. In many cases, doctors prescribe the 'safest' meds - the ones least likely to rock the boat. They are not necessarily prescribing the most effective ones. If efficacy was the primary goal, then MAOIs might be a first line option. However, as the drug companies have been marketing antidepressants for more and more trivial matters (i.e. according to the Trintillex commercial, depression is all about spending too much time in sweatpants) they need something that is benign enough - side effect wise - to be given to the masses. God help you, if you have something wrong other than serotonin. Good luck!

You probably won't because most users are presumably in North America, where diazepam isn't really a standard benzo to use.

Some places, like the UK, diazepam is much more widely used.
