If you're curious about a doctor's financial relationships with pharma companies, you can search this federally run database.

Well, I'm happy to know that my psychiatrist took only $177 from drug companies. Maybe this is why he has always been reluctant to prescribe new drugs under patent that are essentially the same as older drugs off patent. The NYT had an article today about a study that found docs are more likely to prescribe expensive patented drugs when they received money/gifts from drug companies and the higher the value received, the more likely they were to prescribe expensive drugs.

Interesting. My current doc received about $110. The doc I fired? Over $5,000!

there's alot of doctors on there on higher end getting paid millions, i'll go into my doctors office, almost every doctor's office has a promotion of a drug. I've had to resort other treatments, but my sessions nothing i say is taken seriously, i just go in, a smile, yup doing great, see you in a couple months. I go to psychiatric hospitals when an emergency happens... they usually take care of me when imbalance regular doctor would not take action on. Yet the huge advertisements all over the walls, and cups and pens, posters and all that stuff in the offices. I never really knew the relationship between doctors and pharma companies, it's kinda shocking but this has been this way for long time, they advertised old meds from the 50s to doctors, like Miltown the blockbuster drug for 5 years in the late 50s
