OCD is there a magic bullett?

Posted by Lamdage22 on November 23, 2016, at 9:16:45

I sometimes am obsessing about losing control and hurting people. I never acted on it but it is distressing. Its an obsessive thought that is hard to get rid of.

It is affecting my work.

I can't write that much cause I'm on my mobile phone, but I want to say that memantine works wonders and without side effects.

It was by faaar the best ocd-medication I have ever tried.

Unbelievable!

And for sure one of the best anti psychotics to, in my opinion 😊

I was on 30 milligrams but tapered up slowly.
5 milligrams every week until i was on 30, for some weeks i was on 40 but that seemed to be a bit too high.

I have not been overweight so no i did not loose any weight, but sure i didn't gain any either.

i think it could help you loose wight because it is kind of stimulating but not at all in a anxiogenic way like traditional stimulants.

I think that you should try at least 20 milligrams but go very slow and if you tolerate it as much as i did, i know that you are going to be helped by it.

If you are lucky after some month on it, you maybe can try to increase some of you APs to. If you feel like it ofcourse!

Ask me more if you want :)

kind regards / J

You mean decrease right? That would be awesome and it would lead to less appetite. I just spoke to my new psychologist and he says they are definitely obsessive thoughts and not an intent to harm anyone.

Do you have OCD? I was never diagnosed but lately i also have a new tendency to double check stuff. My psychologist has the opinion that i give the obsessive thoughts more weight if i medicate them.

Maybe i can do this with weekly therapy? I can order it Memantine online, no doubt, but i wouldnt want to cheat behind my psychiatrists back and also i take into account what the psychologist said. I will confront my psychiatrist with these obsessive traits on monday. We will see.

Yeah i mean decrease! What i have heard and experience, memantine can make medicines more potent to some extent due to the decrease in tolerance.

One doctor said that i have OCD but my main diagnosis is dependant personality disorder, ptsd and GAD with obsessive and paranoid features.

I can't recommend that you go behind your therapists back and if you get it from a reliable source (your doctor) i think it will have a better effect :-)

I don't think that trazodone makes it worse but if you feel like you have been worse since you started it, maybe you should talk to your doctor about it!

I think this road i am on probably wont last forever. You cant just keep medicating problems away. Its going to backfire

there's different ways for treating obsessional thinking, one SSRI's such as Prozac, and other anti-obsessional medications (usally SSRI's) and also anti-psychotics but your already on zyprexa and seroquel so that may be maxed out, there is thorazine and stelazine , older anti-psychotics that work well with calming the mind, but they have more side effects

stelazine is good for reducing anxiety, you may ask the doctor https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trifluoperazine

I am scared of the tardive dyskinesia side effect. Also i dont like the sexual side effects of SSRI and Tricyclics.

i read somewhere on the net, subject said that stelazine kept them stable through bad events......i can't rerember where i read that, but stelazine is a very good anxiety and thought tranquilizer even though it isnt a benzo, its not really abusable because if it's abused you'll have movement side effects......

it's strong but it works with calming dysphoria and disorganized thoughts, but not sure about obsessional thoughts

we'll actually it does have more of a chance to produce tardive dyskinesia than the newer ones. All i read through articles that it's calming and tranquilizing but it's a typpical anti-psychotic (1st generation) and even out of the typical it seems to cause more dykinesia effects

you may ask about adding like nuerontin, or buspar to effexor, buspar increases serotonin but does not produce sedation

I think i am going the non-medication route here. There is a really good clinic where i can go. Its like an hour south.
