So I have taken lexapro for 10 years now to help manage GAD/Depression and it has worked wonders, but I find myself falling back into GAD holes now.
I am going to see the pdoc in a week, but I am wondering what you guys think? I have a script for xanax prn but I try not to take them too often.

ummm....well....raise the dose, add remeron, add neurontin (gabapentin), add lyrica, add buspar.
That's all I can think of. Wise choice to minimize your xanax use...my Klonopin taper was a nightmare ((other people don't have as much trouble)).

I take 20mg lexapro so not sure if the pdoc will like raising the does, but I will mention it.

I didn't know they came in that size even..150-300 is the normal dose for GAD and OCD..
In my country they just come in 50 and 100mg tabletts.
I have to say that some medicines does not work to use microdosing on, espacially if the problems are severe..
I'm pretty sure your pdoc will raise the dose, anything else would have me very surprised..

Lexapro worked well for me for awhile, then breakthrough episodes prompted me to consider either increase the dosage or switch. I chose to switch to Trintellix, which is just ok for GAD; however, when I was cross titrating, a mix of the two was kinda nice. I think increasing your dosage might buy you more time lexapro. Just my thoughts on the subject.
Xanax made my GAD much worse, fyi.

Maybe you could try give memantine a shot, and if you don't have any addiction problems i thunk that memantine and a stimulant seem to have helped a lot of people.I'm an addict so i keep away from stimulants (been on amphetamine for 5 years so for me it's not worth it if it's gonna be a relapse in that and i find myself using one year from now.).
But if you're not, i think that's what i'd recommend :-)

Lexapro and mirtazapine can be a good combination especially if GAD is causing sleep, appetite or GI effects. It has different (perhaps complementary) targets.
I used mirtazapine and citalopram with good results. I am currently using effexor and remeron with good results.

I agree, remeron is a good medicine for gad.
I've seen cases were doctors have had mirtazapine as monotherapy in the range of 90-120mg with great success too, and with minimal side effects.
Just so people know that there are options if the highest recommended dose don't help as much as it needs.
For me 30mg was a great help to come to rest in the evening under my depression, and to not wake up with anxiety :-)
