Hi i'm sorry to hear you're also suffering

but i don't think Botox injections for blepharospasm or nystagmus can bring any relief from depression, by my knowing it will make things worse.

Never used it but I think the theory is use it around the mouth, smile much easier/frequently, brain recognizes this and releases more positive chemicals.....

Thank you for all the replies. The study I have been reading shows it given between the eyes, the frown line so to speak. It would be a costly trial but worth it if it worked.

If you have a lot of frown line activity between your eyebrows and/or on your forehead, then Botox could do a lot of good for your depression. I don't frown much -- at least, I don't think I do. Otherwise, I would have tried Botox. I still might try it one of these days.

So it makes you look happy and therefore it makes you feel happy?

Botox paralyzes the frown line and worry line muscles in the forehead. By preventing depressed people from using these muscles, it makes it more difficult for them to experience negative emotions.

People receiving this treatment have experienced significant relief from depression that lasts for a few months. This article contains detailed information about the injection sites and how much Botox is used (in section 2.2. Study design):

Your facial expression can have a significant impact on your mood. So can your posture. You might find this TED Talk interesting:

Jeroen, I think you might be Dutch or Flemish (sorry if I'm wrong). Here's a Dutch transcript for this TED Talk:
