ritalin for intrusive suicidal thoughts?

Posted by porkpiehat on November 24, 2015, at 18:13:19

They've been back lately along with sadness and lack of motivation. A tiny bit of ritalin makes them go away like they were never there. Oddly sometime a full meal does this too even though I eat well.

Anyway is using ritalin this way safe and/or smart? If it's just a euphoric bump and not actually a distractability thing I supposed the answer is no.

However I'm not really getting any euphoria off 5mg extended release. The ruminations stop though.

your call, I think. that's a small dose. Ritalin was once commonly used for all sorts of problems, including depression.

I'd be more concerned about drug-drug interactions than the Ritalin itself. Just a thought.

I take 15mgs celexa and 150 lamictal. Up to .5 mgs of klonopin. I actually think the lamictal is to blame for the mood swings ironically. But going up and coming off the stupid drug is a nightmare

I have a friend in a similar situation. Was at 400mgs/Lamictal; now at 150. Almost impossible to get off completely, it seems. Also taking 20mgs/Adderall, which helps mood issues and cognitive issues (some of which are probably from the Lamictal).

I hope this works for you. I'm no expert, but I don't think a tiny dose of Ritalin on top of your other meds is a big deal...certainly not uncommon, at any rate.

I think it's super that you've found something to help. And the dose is low. Personally, I wouldn't worry.

Last week I began having annoying brain zaps. Wtf? Well, I had neglected to put my lamotrigine in my in my weekly pill minder. Is that (only worse) what people experience coming off lamotrigine?

Letting myself run out of Lyrica, another AE, was horrible. Exactly like having a bad stomach flu!

If Ritalin helps then it is perfectly alright to use it inn that fashion.

a recent study showed ritalin helps with PTSD symptoms...
