Multiple Medications

Posted by Shell on November 7, 2015, at 23:58:31

I just realized that take four medications every day. Prozac, Effexor, Remeron, and Klonopin. I'm not complaining, I actually feel like I finally have a combination that works for me. But FOUR different medications? I often wonder what the pharmacist thinks when I fill them all.

Friends,
Be not deceived. The combination of drugs advocated here could cause death. This is because when these drugs are combined, the adverse effects are increased exponentially. The drugs here could raise chemicals in the brain to toxic levels to induce coma and/or death. And worse, the combination could impair one's thinking so greatly that the taker could not know what could kill them as their thinking can become distorted to believe a lie.
It is inconceivable to me that this is allowed to be promoted here without being compliant with the FDA rules for promoting a drug. Readers could think that the drugs taken this way are safer than they really are and worse, could think that there is no risk at all by taking these drugs that could kill you. And even worse, a psychiatrist that chairs this site does not intervene to tell readers of the risks so that readers could think that it is supportive to take these drugs that could cause death. And if death doesn't get you, addiction and life-ruining conditions could.
And you mothers. Grab your son, your daughter out of the grips of addicting drugs if you do not want your child to be addicted to these drugs that could lead them to a lifetime of misery and induce a mind-altered state to compel them to kill themselves and/or others, even commit mass-murder. How could this be allowed? How could addicting drugs that kill 40,000 people each year be promoted openly here without being required to state the risks as the FDA mandates which could lead readers to their deaths? IMHO it is a terrible, its a terrible, its a terrible thing to do.

I'm on 4, also--Trileptal, Lamictal, Wellbutrin SR, and Abilify. It works. I have a 5th--low dose neurontin--for strictly as needed use. I only take it rarely.

It seems like 4 is the magic number for a lot of people. I don't know what the deal is, but...especially with bipolar and the schizo-disorders, people are on multiple meds.

Yeah,

I'm on Effexor, remeron, lithium and Ritalin. Crazy. I want to reduce it to 3, but not sure what to give up.

Is it a matter of principle?

Based upon your previous posts, I would say that if you absolutely must get rid of a drug, I would consider tapering the Ritalin first, especially if you are using it as a PRN. If it turns out that you cannot do without it, I would take a look at replacing it with Focalin for a more consistent effect. If you have determined that you have a ADD component to your condition, you might need all four drugs.

Its a bit of a matter of principle, but mostly a matter of cost.
