I took topamax once and it definitely suppressed my appetite. But it made me feel cloudy and I had tingling in my hands and feet and slight ringing in my ears. The appetite suppression didn't make me lose weight, since I didn't tend to overeat anyway - just gained a ton of weight on AAPs without eating more at all. I don't usually have many side-effects from meds, but I really hated topamax.

yea it's the appetite suppression, it doenst really increase the metabolism like stimulants.....

not really knowing alot about topamax, but it is used in some mood cases, but really i don't think it's a great medication even though i've never taken it, they use it for siezures and migranes, and really besides that i don't think it's useful, maybe it will provide some mood stablization with some people, it has alot of mental alterations that are not good, there's posts on the archives here on babble that people wrote about it

Here in the US, they have that combo pill...topamax plus phentermine, a couple different strengths...

...do they have that in Germany?

olanzapine ↔ topiramate
Applies to: Zyprexa (olanzapine), Topamax (topiramate)
Topiramate can cause increased body temperature and decreased sweating, and these effects may be even greater when combined with medications like OLANZapine. Heat stroke and hospitalization may occur in some people, especially in warm weather and during vigorous exercise. Children are more likely to experience this problem. Talk with your doctor before using these medications together. Drink plenty of fluids during warm weather and when exercising. Call the doctor if you have decreased sweating or a fever. You may also experience drowsiness, dizziness, or lightheadedness when taking these medications together. Avoid activities requiring mental alertness such as driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medications affect you. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

The same with Topamax and Seroquel.

What do you think??

topamax with zyprexa at 20mg would be a nightmare.....

i stopped zyprexa and i am kinda having the jitters withdrawing from it, but it's better to just use it as PRN, im much more alert and talkative, zyprexa makes me be quiet.....
