have no idea plus there's thousands more. a guy i knew smoked 3 packs a day and died of lung cancer at 30.
the pack years always tell the tale
20 years
X2 packs a day
equals 40 pack years
40 pack yearsyou know all the times you discussed
is there a god
well
you're about to find out.

Well phil ever since I found ecigs and vaping, I only smoke 1 cig a day. Since last Nov.
Before I smoked 1/2 pack a day for 12 years. Then I found wellbutrin sr and smoked 1/4 pack a day for 10 years.
Vaping is awsome! Thanks for the help in finding about vaping!
So how many pack years is that? 6+2.5=8.5.
Is 40 pack years when you die? How many do you get? Can't imagine what it would be like to have lungs of a 40 pack year. After my first 6 pack years I could hardly breath. Untill I cut down. Mind you I was over weight at the time. But I would get winded after walking fast for 5 min..

you da best. i pack a day for one year = 1 pack year 2pad for 2 years = 4 pack years. i'm not good at fractions.
If a smoker smokes .5 packs a day but quits before they are 30, then that will give them the years needed for their lungs to heal.
i'm so so so much better but my lungs will take a while to catch up.
i need to be peddling my bike and other things to get improvement. we need to sweat that poison out. if a woman or man can't kick the butts, then we know the best way to reduce harm.when my dear brother was dying of lung cancer, i started going to a website call 'the faces of lung cancer.' heartbreaking because 10% of those people never smoked. beautiful, vibrant girls and boys, many very health conscious died like my brother did and no one should die like that.

> Is 40 pack years when you die? How many do you get? i think 40 would put someone at a much higher risk than a non-smoker.
>>>it must vary. i was in a second hand book store and saw a book on lung cancer and browsed through it with one eye open. that's when i learned about pack years then put the book back on the shelf.
>>>I dated a wonderful girl in the mid 80's. i hadn't seen her since till she found me here. she had married for ten years and she said her husband was a singer playing every venue in south texas. he didn't smoke but he sang in smokey bars and that killed him, lung cancer. just like christopher Reeds wife did(can't place her name)

i had a lot of physical jobs for years and some kept me in better shape but cigs don't care much about that.
my voice has gone up an octave, maybe not that much. i'm 61 and talked to a lady on the phone and out of nowhere she asked how old i was..61. she said your voice sounds more like 40. never heard that before quitting.
Zy, i know a guy on a forum that switched 8 people to ecigs. didn't push them on the people but patiently waited for their curiosity.
by vaping, we are saving lives but we really don't know how many people that we helped.

I don't know what is more unbelievable; that the guy died of lung cancer at 30 or that he smoked 3 packs a day. That's gotta be like 60 cigarettes a day! Who has that kind of time? You really have to be a head case to need to smoke cigarettes every 5 minutes.

It's not that unusual. Years ago, my husband smoked 4 packs a day. He always had a cigarette burning and got up several times during the night to smoke. At that time, smoking was allowed in most places, so he would smoke through movies, classes, etc. Now, most indoor places restrict smoking, so it's harder to smoke like that. Which is all for the good.

Wow, I guess I'm lucky that smoking isn't one of my vices. I'm glad he is smoking less. It such a bad habit.
