This forum could use an "edit" button!

I will present my Pdoc with that idea.

I took a mood-stabilizer: Seroquel!

I read somewhere that anticonvulsants+antipsychotics= prevention of "super sensitivity psychosis," the psychosis that follows long term use of antipsychotics. I have no idea if that's true or not, but in my situation, adding trileptal (1200) and now lamictal (50, working up to 100, maybe up to 200 later) has spared me increasing my antipsychotic, adding one in, or switching to another, stronger one.

Just a thought.

Well which one would that be? Lamictal makes me loose hair..

Yes meds are my first choice of treatment for psychosis.

Support second.

Riluzole sounds cool.

But there are so many meds going through my liver and kidney right now!

Phew

Yes. Many suicides occur in people with schizophrenia who are brought out of a psychotic state that had lasted for years for the reasons you describe. I can't imagine.

Seroquel is not a mood stabilizer.

That's psychotic depression, not post-psychotic depression.

I'm confused. What article were you looking at?

"Post-psychotic depression (PPD) is defined as the development of depression during the phase of remission of schizophrenia."

http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/BF02191572

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11519384

http://psychcentral.com/lib/post-schizophrenic-depression/000148

I don't know if post-psychotic depression really exists or not, but, certainly, some researchers in psychiatry believe that it does.

"Conclusions The results provided support for the validity of two of the three course patterns of depression in schizophrenia, including PPD. Post-psychotic depression occurs de novo without concomitant change in positive or negative symptoms."

I can imagine. But how can you be psychotic for several years? People that dont have access to medical care?

I can certainly say i will not try another antidepressant for a long time unless they say its specifically good for people with schizophrenia or it is an antipsychotic in the first place!

Im back to 25mg Zyprexa and 700 Seroquel because of Stablon!!

In retrospect, the point were i became really "crazy" was when i tried Nardil.

Who knows how much it was me and how much it was ADs.

One thing is for certain: This isnt your typical onset of Schizophrenia.

This is one of the reasons im staying in Germany. Basic needs and healthcare are covered. Living here doesnt have this "make it or break" flavor to it.

Even though i wouldnt be affected by it, i just dont like it very much. Jeez babble really lacks an "edit" option.

Its not like all these people you see on the streets are there because of their own wrongdoing.

We have homeless people here, too.
But thats because they have chosen it.

If you have schizoaffective disorder, the Nardil may have triggered a mania which then led to psychosis. Just a guess.

Sounds like you're schizoaffective, hence my pleas that you get on a mood stabilizer.

Carbamazapine
Depakote
Trileptal
Lamictal
Lithium

One you're on a mood stabilizer you can take on an AD.

I stand corrected. :)

Lamdage22 is having problems with antidepressants, which leads me to believe he is schizoaffective.
