Zoloft still keeping neck pain at bay...

Posted by gadchik on November 30, 2013, at 15:59:22

Im just amazed at this! I should report it to the manufacturer. I feel lucky, lucky, lucky! If it poops out, I will be soooo sad. My neck pain/shoulder tension was unbearable and interfering with my sleep. I could probably go up to 25mg now that Im used to the zoloft and no side effects.

This is a good thing.

If you find yourself relapsing, you might benefit from adding nortriptyline to Zoloft to enhance its therapeutic effects on pain, mood, and anxiety. If you have already tried amitriptyline without effect, taking nortriptyline is probably a waste of time.

Good luck. I hope your current response to treatment persists.

Yes, P. I was having bad neck pain/shoulder tension for weeks. Interfered with sleep. I decided to try 12.5mg Zoloft because I started having spasms. I had tried Advil etc. I'm still on .5mg klonopin(don't know why that wouldn't work for neck pain). So the Zoloft works but it may not be a long term fix. I will just have to see. Have u tried any ssris for pain?

Thanks Scott, I will remember that because the Zoloft effect may not last. I will just keep my fingers crossed.

I would have to say no to SSRI's for pain. How and what made you decide to try this for pain? P

That's so great! Do you need to increase if it's working? Or would the increase be to help anxiety or other symptoms?

I rememberd that when I took zoloft previously,I didnt have neck pain. I had a supply of zoloft, and my hubby takes it. So, Ive had neck pain on and off for yrs. This bout has been esp tough. Imagine my delight when I decided to pop a 1/2 zoloft and it worked!

The klonopin really has kept my anxiety under control, and no depression, so the zoloft is strictly helping my pain. Maybe it's working in tandem with klonopin for my pain. Reason I would consider goin up in dose-I read that the relief from pain can be temporary as ur body adjusts to the ssri. If that's the case, then I suppose the higher dose would eventually poop out too. I had xrays, etc yrs ago on my neck and they dont know whats causing it...i was in a car accident when in college, got whiplash, so theyve attributed it to that.

Im sorry, I believe a pharmacist told me that the relief may lessen as my body adjusts to the ssri,I thought I read it.

I actually do think 12.5mg zoloft helps with my anxiety even though Im using it for neck pain. I consider zoloft a broad spectrum ssri, seems to work for so many diff psych issues. My hubby takes 75mg and my mother in law takes 50mg. I know so many people who take it and are doing fantastic.

To be honest, I think it most makes sense to stay at 12.5mg for as long as it works (hopefully continuously!). You can easily increase in future if necessary. No point in taking more than you need, but there's loads of room to increase if you do need to at some point :)

I will stay at 12.5mg. I had weight gain when I took 25mg(but was also taking 7.5mg remeron)My pdoc says it was remeron for sure, but I do associate zoloft with that weight gain. I love to be fit, and Im happier when I weigh less.
