parnate augmentation....anyone?

Posted by cadett on October 31, 2013, at 18:44:07

I have been on 40mg of parnate/200mg provigil for about 6 months. The depression has lifted a little, but I am extremely irritable and ruminate over a bad situation I had.
Can anyone offer any augmentation with parnate to get me over the hump.
About ready to give up parnate rather be on the couch than be angry and irritable and throwing things!

Why are you not considering increasing the dosage of Parnate? Is the Parnate causing the irritability and ruminations?

Yes the parnate seems to fuel the irritability. The rumination has been on going for a year and 10 months, but it seems worse on parnate.
Even after 6 months I don't seem to be able to increase the parnate.

Can you describe what positive effects Parnate has on you at a dosage of 40 mg/day? Why do you continue to take it?

Have you ever tried Nardil? It might be better for irritability and ruminations.

Is there any family history of bipolar disorder?

Personally I would switch meds then. What was the reason you were given parnate? What other meds have you taken before the parnate. Phillipa

Parnate did lift the depression a bit. I have concerns of weight gain with Nardil as that is already a problem. I don't think there is any bi-bolar in the family, not much immediate family.

Thank you, Scott

On Parnate for atypical depression, have tried all the classes of antidepressants this was a last resort.
Thank you, Phillipa

People talk about maois or parnate and its interactions , yess there are many but parnate is actualy med and augment friendly if it is done right.

For irrability i would add a combo that works wonders , this i believe would be a small dose of klonopin and gabapentin together they create a synergy.

I had a article on my other pc that klonopin was actualy deemed a MOOD STABLIZER at higher doses.

I augmented parnate with modfanil and actualy found parnate combined with one single caffiene tab was more effective. Not a clinch but more effective. The biggest bang for the buck was to raise the parnte dose ,and add if your doc will allow vyvanse to the mix.

With this addition you will notice more energy with parnate , since for some higher doses of parnate create some fatigue.I can ALMOST promise youll love the parnate/vyvanse combo , youll get the anti depressant kick you want , without the itrratation.

P.S If it helps i can tell you when i was on the same parnate/modfanil combo i noticed anger too , i now see it was the modfanil doing it as the moment i stopped it i dident get irration any longer. This with opinion only is what id recomend..

Parnate at a higher dose of no less then 40 twice a day am and pm.

Vyvanse miniscure dose

One tabled cafffiene will have a synergy with the stimulant you wont notice nothing but a mild lift

Klonopin/gabpentin combo for any irrtation or calm you may need or want.

If you can get xyrem prescribed it would abolish any anxiety but its not usualy given off label yet
