Zyprexa working really well again, finally!

Posted by Zyprexa on October 10, 2013, at 21:44:32

I'm at 15mg of Teva. The change over from brand to generic seems to have gone over now. Seems to be effective and calming a lot more now. Just seems like it did on brand 10mg from before the abilify.
Guess it just takes a long time to recover from abilify. Like 6 years now. And I was only on it for 6 months. But same thing happened other times I tried abilify, only for shorter durations. Should have learned my lesson then. Except that my doc had me convinced it was zyprexa causing the diabettes. So I pushed pdoc for anouther abilify trial that lasted too long and really disabled me. Turned out in the end that the trial of geodon was the one that made me diabettic. Which thankfully went away with some time off it. Two drugs I will never do again! My blood sugars are as good as they could be now, and I've been taking zyprexa for a decade and a half. How bout that?

That is fabulous that you have a med that is still working well for so long. So no more diabetes? Blood sugars normal? Congratulations!!! Phillipa

I was on zyprexa for 8 years, along with prozac. I had no problems from it.

In the later years I did have some had trembling and stuff like that which is common to ADs and APs, and much of it was uncontrollable, so I figured that could maybe have been from zyprexa. But there had been so many other meds, almost all of them actually, so zyprexa was only one in a large crowd. Seroquel or abilify or amisulpride could have done the same thing. But as it turned out, a few years later, most of the fine tremors are almost gone. It wasn't the drugs after all.

It had been lyme disease the whole time. Anitbiotics fixed pretty much all the psychiatric symptoms by about 90%.

Despite the risks of zyprexa, which I believe are overblown, my opinion is that it is one of the few best meds in the whole psychiatric world.
