I think the relationship between Fetzima and Savella is similar to Lexapro and Celexa. Hopefully, Fetzima will demonstrate a better success rate than Savella.

Fetzima may not be "novel", but it is new. For every new drug that becomes available, a certain percentage of previously treatment-resistant people will go on to respond to it.

I really don't know what truly novel drugs are close to being approved. Naurex is working on NMDA receptor partial agonists, one of which will be adminstered orally rather than by IV. These drugs are thought to act much like ketamine.

Shawn Thomas, who used to post here on Psycho-Babble, produced the following chart as part of his wonderful website. Unfortunately, it appears that he has stopped updating it.
