I have bad side effects from TEVA mfg of d-amphetamine (Adderall) 20mg. I ordered my CorePharma brand last week.
After 1 hour calling over 16 pharmacies in town none have corepharma brand all have @(#*&! TEVAToday is my last pills of Adderall, Please help. What is similar to Adderall.
ive tried and didnt work:
Ritalin
Ritalin LA
Methylinephenadate??
Strattera
Concerta
What else could i try? AND get rx for.
\Tried getting name brand but they really dont cover it...cust rep said after ins it would be $193.00.....
BTW, after 45 min on phone to my Ins for Rx, WITH customer rep, WITH pharmacy tech, then WITH Pharmacist (they were all on party line at same time-very helpful) They were FINALLY able to find out that CorePharma is Backordered (to everybody in US) till 2014!!! UGHHhhhhhhh
This is SO frustrating!....what do i do now?

Have you tried good old Dexedrine (D-amphetamine) yet?
What happened when you took Ritalin?
How does Adderall help you?

i was trying to talk to a pharmacist about dexedrine ( i couldn't quite remember the name) but they figured it out and said it was a diet drug, NOT for ADD.
so that kind of ended that conversation.
i hadn't heard from my pdoc. i called 17 pharmacies in town (pretty much all of them) and the last one i called had Sandoz brand. i really didnt have a choice at this point so i got that one.
started this weekend and it seems ok.
not quite as stimulating as the other so i tend to get a litte more tired at the end of the day. but not bad at all. no bad side effects.
when i took ritalin i REALLY felt a crash after about 2-3 hours. i took it twice a day. then i tried ritalin LA, which was SUPPOSED to last all day but only seemed to last about 4-5 hours for me. not enough.i switced to adderall because of a side effect of TEVA (cr@p) brand ritalin, they wouldnt let me get a new scrip of ritalin till 30 days, so my pdoc just switced me to adderall! it was a life saver, it worked, great onset, smooth, and NO crash. i loved it. that was about 4 years ago.
Adderall augments my AD, keeps mood up, gives me enough energy throughout the day to be normal and not walk like eyore. :(
also it does help with my concentration issues. (really bad without).Thanks Scott.
have you heard anything about Sandoz brand?i found out that CorePharma is backordered through US till 2014. ANother pharmacy rep just called me this morning and said that they are discontinuing it.

i considered this but the LA, never seem to last that long with me. i was told once by a doc that i am a fast metabolizer of meds. so i guess that would explain. and i'm guessing ins. would probably not allow for more than once a day dosing?
you ever been on vvyvanse to compare?

That seems absurd, that dexidrine is a diet aid. I took dexidrine spansules (their version of an XR). Now I take adderall XR and it definitely does not last all day, but is less zoomy and crashy. It could also be that I am now on 750mg of lithium too..
I am going to ask my pdoc about the vvaynase since some studies show it lasts longer than adderall XR. Idk.
I think you're right that they will only script one vvaynase per
day, so maybe you would lose dosing flexibility.Let us know what you end up doing. I'll be interested. You sound good :)

Seriously, consider Mallinckrodt immediate-release dextroamphetamine.
I've been on Barr/Teva Adderall and Dexedrine and Dexedrine Spansules(all garbage) brand-name GSK Dexedrine Spansules (amazing), CorePharma Adderall (weak), Sandoz Adderall (perfect), Shire Dexedrine IR (a LOT like my experience with Mallinckrodt, almost TOO potent), and Ethex Dexedrine IR (perfect; threw a fit in my pharmacy when this was discontinued.)
I find it VERY strange that Amedra Pharmaceuticals is suddenly MARKETING Dexedrine Spansules (at dexedrine.com, of all things) and I don't know what that means, unless they are capitalizing on recent shortages by jacking up the price as the new branded generic purchased from GSK.

i had to try something so i found a pharmacy that did carry something other than Teva. It had Sandoz.
to me it does not seem as potent.
mood little lower and certainly not as much energy. kinda lethargic during day. however i was taking 2x day of corepharma so maybe i'll try three of sandoz?also, i meet with pdoc on tuesday. i'll ask him then about the Dexedrine.
now one thing i noticed is that on my old CorePharma (which i found out was being discontinued !!)
is that it did say D-amphetamine. so i wonder if that would be like the Mallinckrodt that cassandracomplex mentioned?anyway, i wonder if the pharmacy misunderstood what i was asking for?
as i google dexedrine and i for certain got over and over ADHD med.not marketed as weight loss??

Clearly, ADHD is a primary indication for the use of this drug. Weight-loss is no longer an official indication as far as I know.
