Nardil plus discussion for insomnia

Posted by gilmourr on May 19, 2013, at 16:53:00

So I'm back on Nardil, it's working fairly well atm (30 days in about).

Insomnia sucks.

Can't use seroquel, it's too powerful of a NET inhibitor.

Is trimipramine a NET inhibitor? On wiki it says it is but everywhere it shows that trimipramine has hardly any affinity with NET.

I actually edited WIKI until someone can confirm it's moderate. I gave my citation.

Furthermore, I need to lower NET. Can I take a bit of lithium or something or what can I do.

Trimipramine or doxepin have minimul reuptake inhibitor activities, and achive their effectsd as antidepressants by blocking the various 5HT receptors.

You could ty 25-50mg of either at bedtime, or you could try a more conventional route of Ambien, temazepam etc

You could also try a combo - 15mg of temazepam and 10-25mg of doxepin

I disagree about doxepin. If you look it up, it's fairly potent as a NRI apparently.

Being an NRI isnt a problem, but even so I'm extremely doubtful that a dose of 50mg would cause significant inhibition of noradrenalin reuptake

But having said all that, taking a benzo or a z-drug takes away any change of any sort of interaction

It is though because Nardil is way too activating for me. All drugs that are NRI's make me super cold and make me crazy and make me relapse. So I need to avoid anymore NRI drugs. Parnate, cymbalta, nardil all made me swing moods like crazy after a certain dose level. Nardil @ 60 mg +, cymbalta at 60mg +, parnate at 40 mg

Can't use those long term though, will develop a resistance to klonopin if I use it every night.

And I know ambien is super weird. It makes me euphoric and sh*t. I do really weird sh*t while I take it.

There is also a new warning on ambien. Came in newsletter I'm sorry I didn't keep it. Bet it's on google though. Phillipa

Perhaps Seroquel would work to address your insomnia and prevent mania at the same time.

Wish I could SLS. First post mentioned that I can't since it raises my NET inhibition since it's potent. Makes all my NE side effects much worse. More NE from this point onward leads to really bad things.

In that case, I'd try either trimipramine, doxepin or promethazine (Phenergan)

I'm sorry I missed your first post.

Have you looked into using cyproheptadine?

No I haven't SLS, but I will. I think the side effect profile is ridiculous though isn't it?

I started using 2 mg of klonopin and it's TERRIFIC. I guess I'll use it for the mean time.

I also just got doxepin! But I don't want to use doxepin until 70-90 days of being on Nardil go by since I need to know what it does by itself.

Right now, Nardil is killing it besides the insomnia. I'm feeling quite good, depression and anxiety wise! It was worth it to keep trying and find my optimal dose!

KNOCK ON WOOD! I'm hoping on remission. I'll be back to let you know if I get there.
