Anyone who has taken Nardil + Provigil(modafinil)?

Posted by Diego11 on January 3, 2013, at 11:09:51

Hi, I would like to ask someone - some questions on this combination of these drugs, which I take now.

Is there anyone with any experiences regarding this combo ? Or maybe someone know any person who has been on it ?

Please help me, because I really need some serious answers to this combo!

Thanks.

I used to take Nardil and Provigil. Nardil was 60mg and Provigil was 200 mg, I think. I added the Provigil to combat the afternoon fatigue that came with Nardil. What questions do you have?

I now take 60mg Nardil (splitted in two doses) with 300mg of Lyrica( at night) + ProVigil(modafinil) in dosage range 100-200mg on a daily basis or PRN (due to fatigue from this combo).

I have not too much experiences from modafinil yet and in truth, I am a little bit cofused from effects of it to me. So I would like to ask you some questions :

Did you also experience that the effects from modafinil last for only a couple of hours (that it has too short time of duration) ?
As for me, I can get maximum of its effects in the course of first 2-3 hours then the effects gradually go away, and they are often followed by a tiredness and drowsiness (something in a way like comedown, as I then feeling even more exhausted).

I wonder, When did you take your dose or what did your daily routine look like ?

also, Did you ever experience better effect ( or even longer period of time ) when you splitted your dosage ? or Did you was able to benefit from as low dose as 50mg of modafinil ?

Because I usually take a single dose of 100mg about 2-3 PM (because after AM I starting feeling fatigued and exhausted from Nardil). I have experienced, that when I take 100 mg in the AM (like most people recommend)the effects lasts only a couple of hours and a short time after, I started to get more sleepy and tired so I had to take another 100mg around PM (and as I mentioned, I often do not need take modafinil until PM or noon).

In your opinion, Do you think that if I spread out 100mg throughout the day, it will help me to stay awake all the day? According to my case, Should I take 100 or maybe 200mg in the AM rather than 100mg in the PM ?

I read somewhere that Modafinil can make people alot more outgoing, social, and also it helps with mood. Is this really possible ? Did you experience this effect ?

Thank you in advance !

Not really. I have to say, I was seldom consciously aware of Provigil's effect on me, so I don't recall ever noting that it had "worn off".

I never really experienced that, except for a normal tiredness at bedtime. In thinking back to when I took it, I should revise what I said about taking it for Nardil-related fatigue. That was part of it, but the greatest benefit I had from Provigil was regulating my sleep/wake cycle. I tend to have hypersomnia, easily sleeping for 10-12 hours once I could get to sleep. Getting to sleep has always been a problem, and getting up in the a.m. is a challenge, as well. The more off-kilter my sleep/wake cycle gets, the more it gets skewed to be up at night and asleep at daytime, which makes work a challenge. What Provigil was great at for me was allowing me to get to get up each morning and subsequently, helping me get to sleep at night due to natural drowsiness, if that makes sense.

I would take it first thing in the a.m., along with other morning meds. Like you, I split my Nardil dose to a.m. and p.m. Most of the time I was on these meds, I was working full time at an internship, with fairly regular hours.

> also, Did you ever experience better effect ( or even longer period of time ) when you splitted your dosage ? or Did you was able to benefit from as low dose as 50mg of modafinil ?

I never split my dose and never took anything lower than 100 mg. I'm fairly certain I only took 200 mg, actually.

It's hard to say. I had best luck taking it all as one dose in the a.m., and this usually kept me from needing an afternoon nap.

I don't know if I would go that far, but I do think that it did help my depression, so it could be true. I don't know if it helped me by getting my sleep schedule in line with the rest of the world or if I was jut overall better rested by regular habits. It definitely lifts that morning fog which can keep me mired in a lack of motivation. I do at times think I might like to take it again for depression, since I'm not currently on any anti-depressants except a low dose of trazodone for sleep.

Hope this helps some.

Not so much as I'd like. I just got tired of feeling flat from Cymbalta, so I stopped it intentionally, with a promise to myself to be proactive in taking care of myself physically and emotionally. It's not a roaring success, but I'm getting by.

I told my doctor that provigil and Nuvigil were the highest priced placebo's I'd ever taken. No effect for me.
