A bowel Q..if u r a victorian lady, do no read :P

Posted by ChicagoKat on October 6, 2012, at 14:03:45

And while I'm on the subject, why oh why, if both nardil and elavil are supposed to cause constipation, do i have bad diarrhea today??

Oh, I just recalled the sucky tacos I ate last night, I bet that's it. At any rate, it stinks. Literally.

Looks like I may have answered my own Q, but if anyone else has any thoughts, let me know
Thanks,
Kat

I had diarrhea starting out, too. No idea why, but I'm also curious as to the reason for this.

The constipation will come in time, don't worry :)

Thanks again Nick! MAOIs can be strange beasts, can they not? I'm glad to know I'm not the only one having this paradoxical reaction. But, at the risk of sounding most un-ladylike, I'd much rather deal with consipation than diarrhea lol
Kat
p.s. How are you doing on the Nardil? Is it helping? I sure hope so :)

That sounds horrifying, how painful! Are you better now?
You're right, I'll just wish for normalcy.

In general the Nardil has been better than any drug I have tried before... Month three was great, hardly any anxiety or depression. Best month of my entire life, since I've had dysthimia for as long as I can remember with depression that just slowly gets worse and worse as I grow older. Right now I am in a slump. Just trying to stay caught up with school work until the Nardil kicks back in and I get my motivation back. I already flunked out of Berkeley, so I will really be set back if I let the depression get the best of me again at Sacramento State. Everyone I went to highschool with is graduating already and here I am still a sophomore, even though I am very intelligent. I'm hoping the Nardil will start working better with a few more weeks on 75, since I've only been on 75 for a month so far. In the meantime, I'll hopefully lose some weight and my pants will start fitting again. If this doesn't work then my brain will have pretty much have dodged all my golden bullets, so wish me luck!

LOL that is hilarious. not that there's anything wrong with being gay! But still, it's funny.

What did you end up doing? DId you buy some otc hydrocortisone, did you see a doc and get some proctofoam, or did you just let it heal on it's own, though it must have been painful?!

Thanks for sharing your amusing little story!
My best,
Kat

I've been using a prescription syrup called lactulose since getting badly constipated and f*rt*ng bloody mucus on 800 mg of docusate sodium stool softener daily. It softened up my stool enough to help my fissures and hemmeroids heal. Of course I'd rather get giggled at by 100 pharmacists than have to give myself one more enema, but fortunately neither should be necessary now :)

DAMN! I think I'm gonna have to start taking some Senekot right away...I haven't had any problems yet, but now TWO MAOI users have admitted to anal fissures secondary to constipation...I truly think I'll start treating for it before it even happens, b/c I am NOT getting no freaking enema! And btw Nick, I'm a pharmacist and I am giggling away at you :P

I must try something new ,i have now a second heart beat the second is up my anus, a throbbing in time with a second finger on my watch.OOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWW *$(£"^+ing HELL

Geez Benny, it sounds like you are really in bad shape. Sorry to hear of it! Hopefully olive oil will be helpful. Can't hurt, it's good for you. And try to look at the bright side, reading all your ghastly stories, I have gone ahead and started Senekot, BEFORE any problems crop up, so you have hopefully helped me avoid them. So thanks!
Hope you recover!

Lol, just count your blessings that you didn't get the bad med constipation. I had it on Lithium and it was awful. I'd take diarrhea any day over that.

I'm so glad I started this post; I've learned so much lol But happily, finding out the risks of horrible constipation with Nardil led me to start taking Senekot to avoid any such nightmares, and it is working :D
