Concerta 36mg shortness of breath

Posted by Phil on November 29, 2011, at 11:39:46

OK, 10 plus years ago I took, Ritalin, Dex, and Adderall with SSRI's and Clonazepam. I felt that they were very helpful with few side effects.

Now bipolar, take Lamictal, Lithium, Seroquel. I've gained a lot of weight on atypical's and I smoke.

If I just take the Concerta first in the am, I have rapid breathing..not sure if I'm short of breath but it's an uneasy feeling. If I take my clonazepam and Lamictal all at the same time it's not that noticeable.

I want to continue with this class of meds, especially Adderall, since it worked so well in '01-'02, but I don't particularly want to drop dead doing it.

Insight???

sounds like its pushing your anxiety, more so than cardio issues. Your doc might lower the dose, switch to something else or add a small amount of a beta blocker to take the edge off those NE effects.
Depends on your situation.

I guess you could take it and measure your blood pressure. It could be anxiety. I wouldn't add another drug just to make this drug tolerable, unless you absolutely need a stimulant.

This situation sucks. If you talk to your doc about it, they'll probably pull the ritalin, which might be for the best.

Thanks for the replies. I'd like to find a stim that will work but maybe that won't happen with my current cocktail. And it is a shame, it seems like 90% of the meds I've taken keep my head above water. Stimulants actually give me my curiosity back. I can be fascinated and focused and my mood is lifted.
Fk it, we'll see. I'm pretty used to this drill by now.
