Finally A Real Diagnosis From New Pdoc Not Crazy

Posted by Phillipa on November 16, 2011, at 17:31:47

I saw the new pdoc again today only short session but he said I'm not crazy and definitely am OCD. Said Ocd people had anxiety as root cause. Always think they are dying and blow things out of proprotion. And that OCD people do not get addicted to Benzos. To continue the same dose of luvox the 2.5mg of lexapro, and l0mg of valium & .25mg of xanax. Said a bit unconventional to take two SSRI's but he sees no reason for changing meds now. I found I liked him although He's old school and very serious got him to chuckle and smile. Said to tell my husband I'm not crazy as he always says I am and that I have OCD rituals and need for control. What a relief. Phillipa

I don't think anyone would think you were crazy PJ, it's not as if you have completely lost touch with reality! You have problems like the rest of us.

Glad things are going OK with your new doc.

2.5 mg of Lexapro? What's the point? Drop it and push your Luvox to 300 mg (standard OCD dose).

Eric he said keep meds the same I asked about that as at one time years ago took 250mg of luvox and it worked for a few months and then pdoc took me off as he needed a pt for a celexa trial I said no so he made up this "Oh you are catatonic on luvox". Duh!!! I felt great driving, volunteering at an animal shelter. Went downhill after that. Only med never had a single side effect to. Seems that now I can't get off the low dose. My brain seems to like it. The lexapro was due to experiment. Phillipa

It's true. Luvox can cause flattening of affect at higher doses, hence the 'catatonic' accusation.

If you want to augment your Luvox, try Clomipramine instead of the Lexapro.

It takes a while to find the right med combo to treat OCD.

Read an NIMH article on it and I don't really fit the whole criteria for ocd. Have some annoying habits but don't spend time repeating etc. Most is related to my health concerns. I seriously wasn't flattened on the luvox I felt great and was on the go all the time. Phillipa
