Hi All-
I just saw this promising abstract of a clinical trial of adjunctive SAMe for SSRI/SNRI sexual dysfunction.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21398094
Any experiences with this, specifically in conjunction with fluoxetine?
Dosages? The abstract is silent regarding the dosages used in t he trial.
Thanks for your sharing any thoughts.

Hi there. I have tried SAMe in conjunction with Lexapro and also with Effexor. I found it very effective in increasing libido.

Can SAMe help with actual physical dysfunctional problems or just libido?

Yes, it did help with both. It also potentiates the effect of the antidepressant, so it might be worth lowering your AD (with your pdoc) if you get too sedated or stimulated.

Hi there. It took it for 3 or 4 days @ 200mg daily before I noticed the effect on libido. I tried 400mg daily but it made me manic and agitated.

Interesting. The study I cited above started with a dose of 800 mg per day, increasing to 1,600. That's a lot SAME, and expensive, too. It's encouraging that you found a lower dose to be effective.
This is the end of the thread.
