Trend to Use Less Meds Unless Severe Cases

Posted by Phillipa on September 26, 2011, at 10:57:22

I have an old high school friend met up with on facebook. We have been talking back and forth her husband is a pdoc and she has been discussing meds with him and I ask questions etc. Well she just sent a message that her husband confirmed what I thought and that now meds are being given less and less and reserved for the severest cases. I found this intereting and she also suggesed DO's for endo stuff as the holistic trend for thyroid, adrenals seems to be working better for those who need it. I wonder why this is happening. Seeing her husband is a pdoc why would he use less meds? I just wonder what they know that we don't? Phillipa

Hi Phillipa.

I took my first dose of Viibryd 10mg this morning. Nothing negative so far. I actually felt mildly improved for a portion of the day. This will happen to me sometimes when I begin taking certain antidepressants for the first time. Blip. Just like a virgin.

Scott I still feel there is something in this blip that's super important obvious but so far haven't found cause? New chemicals jar the brain so to speak? Phillipa

It is a fascinating phenomenon. I just wish that extreme tachyphylaxis was not a feature of my condition. I have one theory that my receptors compensate (downregulate) very quickly as my brain always seeks a depressive equilibrium. I don't know.

That would mean to me that you are saying your brain seeks depression as a natural state? Phillipa

Yes.

Let us just say that my brain seeks out an equilibrium that differs from the original genetic blueprints.

Well something caused a switch in the Blueprints of your brain. As was "normal" at one time correct or you could not have accomplished at you did before the big one hit? Phillipa
