Trivastal no effect

Posted by Babak on September 23, 2011, at 8:12:41

Hi,
I have been suffering from depression for most of my adult life with two total break downs which I have since recognized to be more like ADD/ADHD.
I have exhausted all the usual ADs as well as VNS and ETC.
They have all been only partially effective. I say partially because none of them except Effexor have managed to help me with anhedonia and lack of drive.
Effexor helped a little with regards to drive , not anhedonia but it had so many side effect. In any case I put up with it for seven years but in the end I developed heart valve problems and had to have my aortic valve replaced and because of my age 52 I can no longer handle large doses of Venlafaxine
Anyway a few weeks ago, after having read so many positive comments about Trivasta I ordered some through the web without my NHS Pdoc knowing about it. As suggested I started with 50mg and then went up to 100mg (2x50mg Trivastal LA). IT has been a week now but I have noticed almost no effect. If anything I feel worse; I am even less capable to concentrate enough to get anything done, I am just as unsociable as before and I still don't enjoy listening to music or have recovered any of my libido which disappeared completely sometimes in 2004.
Should I continue with this thing or not? Most people seem to have noticed the effects within hours. Considering its short half-life one would have expected to notice the effects a lot quicker. And what does it mean If it doesnt have any effect on me?
I am fed up with my life because at least until 2004 I used to get aroused over sex but now there is nothing to stimulate my imagination. And the other thing is that this unsociability has left me totally isolated.
When I read about Trivistal it looked as if it was exactly what I needed but now I feel even more hopeless than before.

Help please

Yeah, I did.

I don't know what it means that you didn't.

Babak, how is sleep for you?

I am thinking that the better you can sleep, the more options you have. I know it is likely to be more complex than that.

Well my sleeping is all over place. I usually wake up every hour or two hours but sometimes I cann't get out of the bed and even when I do, I end up sleeping on the sofa in front of TV until early afternoon.

At nights I start getting sleepy at around 9 or 10 but I try to stay awake until 12 and even then I wake up two hours later and then again.

Eversince I started Trisvatal I get more sleepy, almost as soon as I take it but I still wake up two hours later and then every hour or two thereafter.

I feel that I am more numb and slightly more anxious since I have started on these tablets.

I don't know what else to try. I have developed an opiate addiction which started with taking codeine tablets for Venlafaxine side effects and ended up with morphine sulphate for stomach pains. Now I am on methadone maintenance program.

I was on 50ml and reduced it to 25ml but I am having to increase the dose because it is the only thing which helps with my anhedonia but I am scared of developing tolerance.

My NHS Pdocs have given up and don't give me an appointment anymore. They say that they have tried
everything and they don't know what else to do.

I feel really abandoned now.

I know something about methadone.

Too much.

When you say 25ml or 50 ml, do you mean mg?

yes 50mg but why people say 60-120mg is the therapeutic range?

I don't know.

Of course 120 is stronger, but why stop there? Why not 240?

It is an ideological field with its fair share of nonsense.

because that works for blockade.

We don't hear about blockade these days. That was part of the ideological debate when methadone was being argued into acceptance, such that often people on the sidelines were surprised to find out methadone was an opiate.

Anyway, unless you have really good illegal opiates, at that dose range they are not going to work.

That's it. It has *nothing* to do with your health. This is a public health argument thing.

Hi Sigmond

Trivastal finally started to have some effect around a ten days ago. May be I didn't notice it because it wasn't what I expected.
Anyway there has been a change to my anhedonia in the sense that I don't feel bothered by it so much. I also have more energy and definitely less sleepy during the day. I also enjoy eating a bit more than I used to. Well at least I try to.
But I have severe anxiety attacks . I have practically come off Paxil and the attacks could be because of that.
I suppose all in all there has been an improvement but disappointingly too little and I have to go back on Paxil again as well because these anxiety attacks are getting too much.

Trivastal Irritablity

May be this question should be posted in the neurotransmitter sections but I also would like to hear about other Trivastal users who might have felt something similar.

I started on Trivastal about three weeks ago. At the same time I started cutting down on my Paroxetine (Paxil) because I have a big problem with anhedonia.

After increasing the dose to 100mg I started noticing that my anhedonia was starting to change very subtly. I noticed that I could make myself do more and got bored less easily. But at the same time I started feeling irritable; shouting at the TV, feeling road rage and that sorts of things.

Not wanting to go back to Paxil I tried to deal with it but it gradually increased and started to manifest itself as anxiety as well.

Then I remembered that Tyrosine too had the same effect on me and I have started to think that in my system at least increased dopamine lends itself to irritability, anger and anxiety.

Does any one have an opinion about this or even a solution.

I am having to go back to Paxil because my Pdoc (UK NHS) doesn't give me an appointment and certainly doesn't approve of me taking Trivastal which at least as yet is not prescribed as an antidepressant in this god damn county.

I am unemployed and have spent all my savings over the past seven years on trying out medication on the web but I am very reluctant to spend more for one reason one can not always trust the stuff being sold on the web.

The only other thing I can get hold of here is Methadone which I have grown to detest mainly because it confuses things and it is near impossible to come off if one has a predisposition for depression as well.

Please help. My anxiety and irritability are becoming psychotic and I have lost control but I don't want to go back to the semi-vegetable state I was in before where I couldn't be bothered to do the simplest of tasks.

Thanks
