It seems to me like one may be able to approximate the action of Viibryd by augmenting an SSRI with buspirone... at least on paper. That would cover both the serotonin reuptake action as well as the partial agonist action. Does this make sense?

People have tried combining Buspar with a small amount of Prozac, and found no therapeutic effect. However, Viibryd does work according to my doctor, as he has already had some success using it on his TRD patients. It is supposed to be less likely to poop-out or produce sexual side effects.
Different is different. I have decided to start taking Viibryd two weeks from now as per my doctor's suggestion. I just hope that my prescription plan will cover it. If it turns out that Viibryd does not help me, I plan to substitute it with Effexor.
