EPS/extra pyrimidial syndrome (side effect of certain antipsychotics) is a form of medicine induced parkinsons - generaly caused by drugs that block dopamine in the brain

I know an old babbler on requip for parkinson's I think that this med actually cured his depression and back in the swing of things again. No he was serverly depressed. Phillipa

I seem to recall reading that some cases of Parkinsonism on the older drugs (especially high doses) didn't reverse upon discontinuation. I guess massive doses of Haldol and/or Thorazine can rip your dopamine receptors a new one.

I don't think that's such a big deal with the atypicals or lower doses of the conventional neuroleptics. TD and other tardive syndromes are a much bigger concern.
