Tranylcypromine vs. Moclobemide

Posted by Ben on September 11, 2011, at 7:11:56

I`m bipolar II and have also social phobia. My daily dose of Parnate is 60 mg. It works quite well but I suffer since Parnate of erectile dysfunction and premature Ejaculation. Is Moclobemide better that way and how good is the action against social phobia? Can somebody tell me about his experiences?

Is was on Luvox and Doxepine before and it worked well for my depression and I didn`t have any sexual probs (better than normal!) but the social phobia was horrible.

Generaly moclobemide is regarded as havign fewer side effects than Nardil or Parnaate, but also not so effective.

Having said that, the only way to know wether it would work for you or not is to try it for 6 weeks and see what happens.

Moclobemide + SSRI low dose ?!

My pdoc combines sometimes low dose SSRI with Moclobemide. He knows of the possible Serotonine-Syndrome but he has a lot of success if Moclobemid doesn't work. Of course he does it very slowly, close-meshed and only in therapy resistant patients. Have you ever had such a combo?
