So I decided to ditch Lyrica, and went from 600 mg to 0 in no time; altho I do now use Valium to increase my seizure threshold (with Zyprexa and Wellbutrin to take into consideration). I also take the 60 mg of Oxazepam.
Yes, I know, I don't suggest anyone quit cold turkey, but this is just me; I know it's the only way I know how to alter medications.
Just to add, I haven't used the Lyrica for a very long time this time around. (I've used and quit before).

Got psychotically anxious. Am now safely at home.
Took Zyprexa and Valium.
Was at the "day-care-center", but they labelled me a drug abuser, and didn't take my anxiety seriously.
Will not return to my psychiatrist; am afraid she would be angry at me switching my meds, and afraid she would not prescribe anxiolytics.

I also have Bipolar I w/ psychotic features. I think doctors are too quick to cut people off of their anxiolytics on the grounds of alleged "abuse" or "misuse." I hope you find a prescriber who is more reasonable and helpful.

Hi !
My pdoc said I can't drive if I take Lyrica, (or high doses of benzos).
I thought my pdoc would have been mad at me for making med changes without her consent, and texted her that I would not come to her office tomorrow. But she said that I should come, she is not angry and that she won't bite ;-)
So I guess I'll go see her tomorrow.
As for the day care institute, it almost seemed as if they didn't want me there. They said I should not use medication to treat my social phobia, that I should try to go to social gatherings; jee, why hadn't I have thought about it in the past 45 years...duh !
Oh, BTW, I took Zyprexa and Valium and my severe bout of anxiety resolved, especially after the message from my pdoc.

Thanks ! I'll discuss this thoroughly tomorrow at my doctors office. I will try to get an answer about what I should do with my anxiety, medicationwise.

I wanted to ask my pdoc about Lyrica for my social anxiety/avoidant personality.
But if these meds aren't supposed to be used for those purposes, what purpose are they supposed to be used for?

Well, it did squat for the sort of pain I had, but anxiety vanished and I quickly cut back on my benzo. But there was a cognitive price to pay, and a few others ( like driving ability) that sharply differed from the effects of Xanax for me. So I had to jettison it.
But because it did not work for me does not have any bearing on results for you.
It is some sort of disinhibitor. Some one else here is trialing it for social anxiety.
