Yes me that is what I went from back to the luvox. I'd been on 60mg of cymbalta and if I remember correctly since it didn't do a thing went to 30 and then guess started the at the time 25mg of luvox. At the time I really didn't come here so didn't know of withdrawal. So is that what your plan is? Phillipa

Yes - I switched from Cymbalta to Cipralex about a year back. Never experienced any real problems from what I can remember. Didn't find it tough.

I found Cipralex to have a good side effect profile, but it wasn't quite as effective for me as some of the other antidepressants out there.

yes phillipa i was thinking of giving the luvox cr a try.. take 60 mg of cymbalta...just worried because it has such a short half life and hits norepinephrine if it would pose a problem..cymbalta is a good ad but starting to lose effectiveness after 8 mos for ocd and racing thoughts

Cymbalta helped OCD? Didn't for me just hid back pain. I'd personally go on the generic luvox and dose as needed if you have to. Just my thoughts as always took it twice a day with largest dose at night. Phillipa

i think your right phillipa==did you ever see on u=tube a psychiatrist called mark vinner he is a staff psychiatrist at the northern nevada adult mental health services he goes by dr. of mind and reviews conditions and meds --honestly he scared me off on luvozx --called it a dangerous med and i guess this has stuck with me----he is very intelligent and entertaining but i think cymbalta will go as it is making me kind of weird and doing nothing for anxiety i guess it wouldnt hurt to try 1 100mg of luvox at night

So you going to try it? No never saw that person. I have been frightened by too many sites and meds to name. So try and avoid them now. Phillipa

I don't know if this counts, since I went straight off of cymbalta right on to remeron. But I just wanted to throw my two cents in,
about 48 hours after my last dose of cymbalta I got the brain zaps. They lasted until saturday or sunday. Now that the cymbalta seems cleared from my system I've been feeling much better.

I think Cymbalta is better administered 40-60mg twice a day for TRD and OCD. Lots of studies demonstrate that 120 mg/day is safe and effective. OCD usually requires higher dosing for a longer period of time than it does for depression. I would probably give consideration to a short trial of a higher dosage of Cymbalta before moving to another drug. I imagine it would kick-in by 2 weeks if it were going to.

unfortunately my insurance won't pay for aboce 60mg this happened with lexapro also insurance wouldn't pay for more than 20mg---unfortunately as you said ocd often requires higher doses....bummer

I haven't seen any studies performed investigating this issue. However, if I had to pick one, I would guess that Cymbalta was more prone to triggering mania than Luvox. There might be something synergistic between the NE and 5-HT reuptake inhibitions of Cymbalta that Luvox lacks.

I do as OCD is considered an anxiety disorder and that was luvox's original purpose. Phillipa

It wasn't that I didn't like it. Actually found babble when on it and the med was new and read and followed how it didn't work for a member so figured it was no good and went off it. The second time I took it I was very confident just moved here the pdoc asked about said no problem but this doc was not nice didn't like initial visit l0minutes. So out came the script pad said take 30mg one week then 60 one week then 90 one week then 120mg. I said but it's not approved over 60mg which it wasn't then he said take it anyway. He terrified me hence horrible anxiety even with benzos so off in l0 days. But if your doc is one you like and trust I'd give it a go. Still have a full bottle of it myself. Phillipa
