Night before last when I wake after 4 hours sleep I forgot to take the 5mg of valium I take as split the bedtime dose for waking up to take synthroid. So that meant I took 5mg of valium and a third of a lmg xanax for the 24 hour time period. Also increased lexapro to 5mg with a slight reduction in the 50mg of luvox. Didn't feel all that bad yesterday. Last night took the 5mg of valium when woke and feel worse why is valium with my long time usage becoming somehow toxic to my system don't understand. And it makes me not care which is scarey. Thanks Phillipa

Hi Phillipa,
I don't know, just my thoughts, but wondering why you think the Valium is becoming toxic? I don't understand the storage issues with Valium, so I can't say much more. Have you discussed this concern with your doctor?
Is Valium really that different? I'm
curious.There are alot of folks here on maintenance doses of different benzos. I would try not to worry too much if you can while the information comes in. Is the Valium not working as well?

if you feel it isnt doing anything/you feel better without it, why not slowly taper it off over 6 weeks?
If you start to feel you need it again, you can easily restart, but it might be that you no longer need this med in your system?

Jono I agree I think 41 years of it is long enough even if take 5mg to sleep that is fine with me. I think the lexapro combo works with it better. Thanks Phillipa

Don't know what to do as felt strange all day on the lex and luvox and had added back in the valium. I quit trying to figure this out. Guess this is just the way it's going to be. Phillipa
