Wellbutrin and anxiety

Posted by markwell on May 27, 2011, at 16:00:13

I've been on 150mgs Wellbutrin for about a week now. My anxiety is maybe just a little worse. Does anxiety go away on Wellbutrin. Can it ever help with anxiety. It's done nothing for depression. My pdoc wants me to go up on dosage on Monday. I don't really want to go 6 weeks on this med but I've got to give it a good run. I still have the terrible racing thoughts.

I was jittery for the first week on Wellbutrin, but this side effect was transitory.

Now I'm on a combination of Wellbutrin and Remeron. This is a great combo.

So far it hasn't increased anything but anxiety.

wb is probably less likely to push you hypomanic than SSRIs but it can happen. It has a reputation for causing anxiety (not helping it) and pushing people into mixed, irritable states.
My experience was that the AD effects were great for a couple months and then pooped out. But theres not much out there that works on dopamine in quite the same way.
Maybe try zoloft? Its been weight neutral for me. Doesnt give me so much apathy like other SSRIs.
