Acarbose for Zyprexa induced weight gain???

Posted by jms600 on April 20, 2011, at 8:07:23

Has anyone ever tried acarbose for weight gain caused by Zyprexa? If it blocks carbohydrates would the drug have a similar effect to the Atkins diet?? If so, then surely acarbose should be a good drug for losing excess body weight/fat?

The meds docs typically use for AAP weight gain seem to be metformin and topamax.
Topamax killed my appetite for carbs like nothing else ever has. Even at 12.5mg I noticed my eating habits were better.
depends on your flavor of brain though, its not a universal effect.
