Ways to counteract stimulant anxiety

Posted by mtdewcmu on April 19, 2011, at 14:29:19

My current med regimen is:

150mg Luvox, 15-30mg Remeron, 20-30mg Dexedrine, and some Artane (trihexyphenidyl) for AD-induced sweating.

I think the benefits of Dexedrine on concentration are being counteracted by the anxiety it is causing or worsening.

I have seen mentions of alpha-2 agonists, like clonidine and guanfacine, calcium channel blockers, like verapamil, and also anticholinergics being used to relieve stimulant anxiety.

I'm sensitive to drugs that cause orthostatic hypotension, so I'm not sure if I could tolerate blood pressure meds.

Has anyone had this problem and found a way to correct it?

Beta blockers are not ideal and never have been for anxiety, they are good as a add on.

Benzos are the only true meds in my personal opinion to relieave clinical anxiety.

Not search and you cant find one death due to benzos alone, not one, every death includes the abuse of benzos with acholol or other drugs.

If you doc wont give u one, google ORDER MEBICAR,OR ADAPTOL

This is a legal,no script benzo that beat out valium. It has no drug interactions, and carries no sedation.

It is nick named a non benzo benzo for it.Cause in essence its a benzo,it just lacks sedation.

THe average price is 15 dollelrs,i also recomend anyone on a benzo to add this,it wont hurt since its non sedating, and it with ur current benzo truly kills anxiety, google order mebicar,or google or adaptol.

Note they are non script and legal to order

What about reducing the Dexedrine a little?

I think of 30mg as being quite a bit.

Does Artane actually work to stop excessive sweating?

I think what you are taking is basically unwise (not that you asked) and I used to take Artane for kicks (why?), so who am I to speak, but anyway, I think it is bloody awful stuff.

I will cut the Dexedrine to 20mg. At some dose it seems to cause enough anxiety to negatively effect concentration and cancel out any benefit. At least that seemed to be the case for me.

Artane is an anticholinergic, so it should dry you out.

Point taken.

There are people who say that the anxiety from amphetamine is less at higher dosages.

I sometimes got a wrung out feeling, as if I was a dishrag that was being rung out, nothing like normal anxiety.

I haven't noticed any extreme sweating since taking it, but it's too early for me to tell for sure if it's helping.

I think most people would reach for something like benadryl or Periactin for SSRI-induced sweating. But I'm pretty sure their usefulness is limited to being anticholinergics. So why not go for a cleaner drug?

I don't entirely disagree with you about it, though. Anticholinergics cause delirium if you overdose, and I think that's what happened to me a couple days ago. I was talking to people that weren't actually there, and I kept mistaking inanimate objects for people out of the corner of my eye.

Ah yes. Perhaps you are a little sensitive to it? Quite irritating it can get. You eventually find the person you have been talking to who has constantly been evading you and you say 'Right, it's crazy, every time I get hold of you you disappear' and bingo, it happens again, at 5am in some park.

If you can tolerate it, maybe a very low-dose antipsychotic? Back in the day, they used to make combo pills with that kind of mix..low-dose thorazine+dexedrine, low-dose trifluoperazine+dexedrine, that kind of thing.
