Latest exp. with mirapex, tianeptine or vyvanse?

Posted by uncouth on January 26, 2011, at 13:39:10

Hi everyone,

I am starting to get desperate again. As you may have remembered I was quite active on this board in 2009 and early 2010, but due to a stunning remission in the first part of 2010 I stopped having to post on here (a good goal for any of us I suppose!). I lifted my depression by taking PEA, dosing it many times a day, eventually with a nMAO inhibitor. Unfortunately I became dependent, tolerant of it, and had to dose a total of at my highest 15 GRAMS of it each day in divided doses. The side effects (overfocusing, staying up late, limited self-awareness of my behaviors, not being able to stay on task, losing a job) eventually made me realize I have to go off of it. I'm now stuck at 1.5-2.5grams a day and can't seem to go down, despite being put on 900mg of bupropion.

So I wanted to ask if anyone could share their latest experience with the following drugs. I'd be interested in what your using them to treat, whether they have been effective alone or in combination, and how they subjectively make you feel.

I'm specifically hoping these will help with the following cluster of symptoms I'm getting off of PEA: severe inability to focus/concentrate, low motivation, depression, "reward-deficiency syndrome". Nothing I have taken to date has helped as much as PEA did in the beginning. It gave me my life back, made me optimistic and creative and sociable. I'm hoping one of the following does the same for me either in combination with my current regeime (900 bupropion, 1mg rasagaline, 1-2g PEA, 400mg lamictal, 15mg abilify, deplin, 5mg zyprexa only p.r.n. and a variety of supplaments/vitamins).

Experience with:

- vyvanse (or dexedrine)
- tianeptine
- mirapex

Thank you. I am getting desperate again. I am fearful the depression will come back with full force and i'll feel like I did all of 2009 when I had ECT and was suicidially depressed and on this board almost every day.

Thanks
uncouth

Hi

Were not you trying tDCS and reported some improvement in mood before few days? Sorry to divert from your original question.

Thanks

I was -- it gave me enough energy to move around (get up off the couch) and helped with mood pretty significantly for the first few days, but its effect seems to have gone away although I'm still doing it. I think the PEA withdrawal is just sorta overwhelming anything else.

Uncouth -- When my wellbutrin started pooping out on me, we tried augmenting with provigil first (which worked pretty well) and eventually vyvanse, which worked pretty well but was easier to get on their patient assistance program.

IMO, the provigil is probably better at helping depressive/amotivational symptoms, but the vyvanse works pretty well too, it just seems to have more cns effects than provigil does (more anxiety).

Try stopping the PEA, starting memantine for a while, and starting the PEA again.

I'd substitute the PEA with d-amphetamine, though.
You could try tianeptine with it, too, but one thing at a time ...

I actually just started both stablon and mirapex, and take vyvanse every day. I will let you know how things go if you're still interested - I just started stablon yesterday and mirapex today. I've been on and off suicidal for awhile, so I'm hoping. Will post back if things get any better!
