Hello folks, I am new here.

Hello folks, I am new here and am looking forward to participating in the forum.
I have been diagnosed with bipolar II disorder and also experience anxiety. I currently take zyprexa, lamictal, wellbutrin and methlyn. I am not sure how well these medications are working for me. I continue to be pretty depressed and have withdrawn from living life in many ways. I have a psychiatrist and a therapist but things just don't seem to be getting much better for me. This is my first post so I guess I'm just testing the waters and exploring how this site works.

Welcome to Babble!

I'm sure you'll get plenty of support here. Check out the other boards, too. The "Alternative" board, for instance, might help you find some supplements to improve your condition.

I have Bipolar I, and a number of other posters on this board have mood issues similar to your own. Hopefully, we can be of some help to you.

Again--welcome to babble.

Hi, welcome to Psycho Babble!

Out the meds you take, do you feel any of them help?

Thanks for being so welcoming to me.
In terms of medication management and/or making adjustments to my regimen, at this point I am trying to be patient and trust my doctors. I feel like the mood stabilizers managed to bring me out of a relatively minor hypo manic phase but sent me into a depressive episode that is pretty severe and I don't feel like the anti depressant is working. At this point I really am trying to learn as much as I can about bipolar disorder and the myriad of treatment options and am interested in hearing others experiences in managing their lives. I have dealt with depression and anxiety on some level for many years but being diagnosed and treated for bipolar II disorder is new to me. I have a range of thoughts and emotions associated with this diagnosis and I am hopeful that I might benefit from others experience.
Thank you so much for your kindness.

You are welcome. Which mood stabalizer? I imagine it is quite a shock to be diagnosed with this. Do you also feel you are bipolar 11? Which ad? As there are many you can try. Phillipa

Hi there again.
It is somewhat concerning to have the bipolar II diagnosis but at the same time allows me to deal with it. Honestly I was skeptical at first but looking back on some of the behaviors associated with the hypo-manic phase it seems pretty clear to me now. It is amazing to me that at the time I didn't see it at all from my perspective. I actually thought that I was just really happy and confident. After having such a history with depression I really felt happy for the first time in a long time and didn't want to give it up. In any event, here I am. As for meds: Zyprexa 2.5mg, lamictal 150mg, wellbutrin 300mg, and methlyn 20mg.
Thanks for inquiring. I appreciate your attentiveness.

I'm not familiar with the last med you list. But you say happy? So were you doing extravagant things, up late at night, didn't need sleep, spending money stuff like that? Phillipa

Hello again Phillipa,
The last med listed I believe was methlyn which is a low dose stimulant medication used to treat adult ADD.
I can't say that anything that I was doing was extravegant but maybe out of character for me. I felt very confident with myself and though I was sleeping regularly I had an incredible amount of energy and drive. I was experiencing pressured speech and racing thoughts as well. I felt very social and outgoing and was moving between activities at a pretty rapid pace. To say I was multi-tasking would be putting it lightly.
Being new to this board it feels kind of strange talking with someone so openly about my experience without knowing much about the person I'm talking with. I see that you are very active on the site but have no idea what issues bring you here. I am just getting an idea of how things work here so bare with me.

It takes a while to learn your way around. But that does sound like bipolar. Phillipa yes again
