Is anyone having luck with this? I should search the archives for myself, but don't have the focus :(

Just curious. Still looking.

Thanks,

I have taken.it for the last two years. When I started taking it, I had already had several years of psychoanalytic psychotherapy, and was over the worst of the MDD, Tianeptine is kind of mild to moderate as an AD, but I think it is a wonderful medication if your depression is not too severe. It is an anxiolytic as much as an antidepressant, and has several neuroprotective functions in the brain. While it may not be strong.enough to be a first choice during a severe depression, I think it is ideal for maintenance, and, hopefully, for preventing a recurrence.

Twinleaf,

I remember your writing about your positive response maybe four months ago but had forgotten.

As an add-on...?

My pdoc said at our last session that he wished I was able to undergo analysis. (I
do, too.)

I'm glad you found relief from it, and your other treatments, too. And I like being reminded of what's possible.

Thanks,

Hi FB

Tianeptine was OK for me. I took it for a couple of years. It got me out of a pit and helped me pretend to be normal, or rather, it got me out of the house to where other abnormal people went to meet ie an alternative community radio station staffed by volunteers. And that was very good for me. After a while tianpetine seemed to make me anxious so I stopped gradually without difficulty.

The tianeptine is an add-on for 300 mg of lithium, and vice versa, Neither one is really heavy-duty, but they seem right for now, when things have gotten better.

.With tianeptine being largely self-prescribed, and pdocs not being familiar with it, it's hard to get reliable information about its interactions with other medications . Compared to the SSRIs, tricyclics, APs, and MAOIs, it is very benign. It is weight-neutral and, if anything, pro-sexual. It is used In Europe for treatment of some forms of.impotence.

I got rather dreamy and thought about sex a lot.

Which was nice for me.

I found it killed my sex drive and gave me the same type of headaches SSRIS give me. Very mellowing, but not useful when treating anhedonia, in my experience.

it's fascinating how different people's reactions are. I definitely notice the dreamy state you describe. I attributed it to it's anxiolytic effect. I do notice more dreams about sex.

Because there are apparently so many beneficial effects on the brain, I was hoping and planning to take it long-term.

This is an interesting thread. As twinleaf said, the variety of response is interesting. Lots of collective knowledge here.

I'm going to do some research on the beneficial effects. Maybe pitch it to my pdoc as an add-on. Anxiety is a big issue for me. (And I'm not sure that cymbalta alone will address mood.)

I appreciate you all sharing your
experiences.

He who knows when enough is enough will always be able to avoid misfortune, according to the Tao Te Ching.

I don't know what it means, PJ. It's some computer substitute word thing.

I'm doing this from Japan and that is how it works from here.
