I know cancer patients who routinely took benzos to sleep while also taking opiates for pain. I think they mix okay if your dose isn't ridiculously high. I wouldn't mix in alcohol though.

I think that if it helps you sleep that you should do it UNTIL you see your pdoc. There really isn't that much codeine in Tylenol 3s anyway so I doubt that you will do any harm to yourself.

I hope your pdoc will prescribe a decent med for sleep.

Another option would be to go to a walk in clinic tomorrow and see if they will prescribe something for you. Even if they only prescribe 5 it will help you make to Monday.

Sleep deprivation is not funny. I have gone through it myself and it's dangerous.

Can you post here after you have tried it just to let us know that you are ok?

Why not call the pdoc or oncall doc. Maybe they will prescribe something for sleep. I wouldn't want to be responsible for someone taking a med I'd prescribed basically as I don't have a license to do this. Hence my suggestion of pdoc but I just don't feel comfortable prescribing for someone without a license. Now an experience I can comment on and I also know what it's like not to be able to sleep. I once went two weeks without sleep from a med change. I empathize with you. Phillipa

Um, you should start the Adderall at another time if you are having trouble sleeping.

I just wanted to mention that if you take the benzo with the Tylenol please don't wash it down with alcohol.

In Canada Tylenol 3s are sold over the counter. You don't need a prescrition. So I have no problem in suggesting that she try it.

I kid you not. It's weird that it would be that way in canada since they are so strict about meds. I don't know how it is sold in the Australia and Europe.

OMG Phillipa, there are SO many things wrong with the USA that I wouldn't even think about whether or not you can get Tylenol 3s.

so i tried to post from my F_ING phone last night...stupid thing. and it kept giving error everytime i wanted...needed to post.

well, i took 1mg xanax and i started to get physically tired but brain didn't want to sleep. so i was hesitant to mix so i did the alcohol thing...lets just say an undisclosed amount.

but by almost 1:30 i was angry and desperate, so took one of my Ty#3.

WHY i didnt do that SOONER i dont know. within about 15-20 min. i was out. i Swear it even helped with anxiety??? is that even possible?

And even though i didnt get to sleep until right before 2, and i woke up a little after 5:30, i Actually feel more rested then in long time!

Would a pdoc Ever Rx Ty#3 for sleep?!!
would he think i'm like an addict or drug seeking if i asked him?

thank you for your comments.

I am really glad you got some sleep. I think there was still alcohol in your system with you took the Tylenol 3s which is probably what knocked you out. Try again tonight without the alcohol. There is no way that a pdoc would prescribe Tylenol 3s for sleep because they are addictive. But I am sure that he can find something else for you. Did you stop the Adderall?

The most dangerous thing in this mixture is not the benzos and codeine, but the tylenol and alcohol. High doses of tylenol can cause liver damage, but even low doses can when you mix tylenol and alcohol.

The poor thing just wanted to sleep. It's not like she does this on a nightly basis. She doesn't even have that many Tylenol 3s anyway. She is not dumb. She knows that it is wrong to mix alcohol and meds. She is merely trying to make to her Pdoc on Monday without starting to hallucinate from lack of sleep.

B2Chica, how did you sleep last night and what did you take? Have you decided what you will ask your pdoc to give to you for sleep? I hope you are staying off the Adderall until you see him.

I will send you purple fairy dust to help you with sleeping. :)

thanks maxime.
i ended up taking way too much of everything. but it worked and i luckily woke up the next morning.
my pdoc and had a good conversattion about it. because, honestly i think the codine helped some with my depressiontoo.
he Suprisingly said that opioids are known to work well for sleep and some treatment resistant depression. the only concerns he has is the main one is they dont last long, you would need to continue to increase and eventually they would not work, so it would only be short term. He slyly asked me how many i had and well i dont want him introuble so i wont tell you what else he said :).
HOWEVER, he did Rx klonipin and gabapentin for anxiety, keep on adderall for lift. once those settle in my system to start again on pristiq.

so yesterday was pretty sad, but also dayzed.
i still basically haven't been able to eat since last monday. could that mess me up?
the anxiety has been so bad, its been constant nausea.
i have my coffee in morning. my 'drinks' at night.
i've tried smoothies and no, little bits of stuff and no, i even tried yogurt and eneded up gagging and it came back up.

i'm sure once these meds knock out the anxity i'll be better.

gotta run.

So glad you saw your pdoc. Klonopin helped me out of a black hole. It works on anxiety pretty deeply IMO. Hope it works for you.

Have you tried warm chicken broth? You should be able to eat soon. Even chamomile tea w/ a drop of honey and milk to keep you warm inside.

Keep us updated.

Warm wishes,

i had to leave work. im at the library. i bought a bottle of vodka and am enjoying my klonipin, gapapendit, and vodka. and wish i could wash under as easily..
i have to stay available, as my T appt is at 2:00.

i dont know how i can go home and even TRY to take care of my family like this.

i need to go.

I'm sorry about your co-worker. :(

When your meds stop working the way they have, do you always turn to alcohol? Once you have the right meds are you able to stop the alcohol. I am just really concerned about you combining meds with the stuff. It was okay for one or two nights to get some sleep, but you can't continue it forever. Of course you know that, but if you are caught up in drinking it's really hard to stop. Do you think it's time to get help with your drinking? I think it might be.

Take care Chica, I think of you often.

I am sorry that life is so rough for you now. What did she do when you threw the bottle at her? I guess your body had a lot of catching up to in the sleep department. I wish I lived near you. I would come over and make you tea or coffee and we could just sit there and talk.
