Nardil working

Posted by Sailboat77 on October 30, 2010, at 16:46:59

I've been on Nardil for about 2 weeks now and I think it's actually working... but it's kind of hard to tell because I've never been on a medicine that has ever really done anything for me. My dose has been gradually increased and I'm now at 60mg and eventually going to 90mg by the end of next week.

My question I guess is how long it takes to start getting the full benefits of Nardil. I know the response rate is variable, but is there any general idea of what I should expect going forward? My depression has been resistant to all other antidepressants so this is a bit of a change for me to notice any changes in mood.

Its said the pre nardil change, nardil was once the gold standerd of succesful meds.Still even after the change and complaints, its still valued pretty high with success.

One thing about the two maois, parnate and nardil is alone they have a quick limit,,,most people will tell u as i feel that maois usualy have two be augmented.

So please dont stress when u feel the med begin to reach a plato, like parnate parnate has many augment options, here are some after some time of use u can look forward too,

Anxiety meds,

Klonopin,or most common benzos,
Most gaba agents such as gabpentin, lamictal etc,
Most mood stablizers, anti psych like abilify etc.

To add anti depressant effect,u can usualy add

Modfamil a light stimulant,
Carefully carefully add a dopamine rich med like a adhd med such as aderalll, this is done with cautuion.

Point is ur on a good med, nardil has the disadvantage to parnate as slower in onset, and less of a PUNCH

However it has the advantage of gaba increase, meaning a additonal plus of calm and social enhancment.

More stablity.

So enjoy the success, and enjoy the fact that ahead of you lies many options to ehance this med,the only problem is cause its a maoi u might have to achieve those without ur doc,but thats always a personal decision, either way bless.

Sailboat77,

It's great to hear that Nardil might be starting to work for you. It's got to feel like a relief after having such little success with the medications you've tried previously.

When I took Nardil, I started to feel its effects about two weeks after I increased my dose from 60 mg to 75 mg, if my memory serves me correctly. Even though I was in remission on Nardil for longer than on any other medication, I had trouble getting a lasting effect out of Nardil. When I took film-coated Nardil, its effects lasted for about two weeks. When I put the contents of the Australian Nardil into enteric capsules, the remission that I experienced lasted for about a month. When I put the contents of Pfizer's Nardil into enteric capsules, the response that I felt (which was somewhat short of remission) lasted about two months. I suspect that my response to Pfizer's Nardil was cut short after I received a bad batch of the medication.

I hope that you get a longer-lasting response from Nardil than I did. Good luck with the medication.

Tomatheus

Thanks for the input. Mood stabalizers and antidepressants have never helped in the past, although stimulants like Adderall and Vyvanse have worked well for me. The problem is that stimulants and Nardil have a drug interaction so it's tough to use them together, but I think if I talk to my doc and figure out a way to use them in a low dose, it might do me good. My resistance to meds in the past makes me think I need something to boost me out of depression.

Stimulants were the ONLY thing to ever give me a sense of contentment or well being, but after 4 hours, I usually crashed and felt very depressed. I'm thinking that maybe with Nardil as a supplement, I might be able to get the benefit of Adderall or Vyvanse without the crash. I'm probably going to first wait until I've been on Nardil at 90mg for 2 more weeks until I make a decision though.

There was an ace fellow who said about to three months or even more to straighten out the proper doing. But well worth the wait as may be close to the best.
