This site seems to have lost it's purpose

Posted by olivia12 on September 27, 2010, at 15:09:57

So, while I have received a lot of good advice from this site, I am about ready to call it quits--reading responses makes me feel like Alice in Wonderland these days! On one side, people are worried about being posted on Twitter/facebook and on the other, Lou just posts some bizarre videos. I have no idea what the "old days" were like as I just recently got involved here, but I think this site needs a bit more "moderating". While we are all adults, this site lately reads as if a bunch of kindergarteners are running around in an unruly manner. Aren't we all wanting the same thing? i.e. some solid feedback/support from people who have been there? Please, let's try to keep this in mind.

Ahh the good old days were great lots of others helping others. Hence why I came here and learning good info. I feel the problem started when some left and the posters who posted all the time left. Just my opinion of course

Yes there was a time when there was hard core discussion of meds. Just a place to exchange information and there were some very knowedgeable people here.
Now people come here with an agenda. Really to much ranting and raving. I mean if you hate meds its time to move on to something else. But some post about topics that really do not belong here. Now the only restriction is being civil. Sometimes threads get moved to another forum.
I noticed in depressionforums people just talk about their experiences. Not much venting going on there.

What are you talking about? The old days? You mean, before we knew about the hidden AD clinical trial data? Yeah, those days were good, but gone forever, unfortunately :)

Please don't post anything that could lead others to feel accused or put down.

But please don't take this personally, either, this doesn't mean I don't like you or think you're bad people, and I'm sorry if this hurts you.

More information about posting policies and tips on alternative ways to express yourself, including a link to a nice post by Dinah on I-statements, are in the FAQ:

http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#civil
http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#enforce

Follow-ups regarding these issues should be redirected to Psycho-Babble Administration. They, as well as replies to the above posts, should of course themselves be civil.

Be the change you wish to see. :-)

Point taken, Dr. Bob and I agree. However, can you expand on how this site and it's contents might be used in a study? It apparently makes some on here a bit uncomfortable. I don't care personally, but I am intrigued as to what you might be doing with all of this "research". Thank you!
