I have seen the term "ultradian" used for quite a few years to describe multiple bipolar phase shifts that occur over the course of a single day. What is "ultraradeon"?

A typo?

Also, if multiple mood shifts occur across a single day, perhaps that would more likely represent extreme mood reactivity, rather than bipolar disorder?

Ultradian rapid cycling bipolar disorder is rare. Multiple mood shifts throughout the day can occur in association with other conditions like borderline personality disorder.

Hi there,

It's often really hard to tell the difference between ultradian cycling and mixed episodes- even for very skilled professionals. Also, they apparently can feel very similar. I have experienced a few particularly terrible mixed episodes. I've had some rapid cycling when my doctor has changed my medication. I have never experienced ultradian cycling, though.

What has your experience been like? If you don't mind sharing...
