New pdoc? Awesome :-) (marplan up to 60)

Posted by zonked on June 10, 2010, at 12:21:09

All that anxiety over nothing!!

My new psychiatrist appointment went REALLY well--she is knowledgable, compassionate and easy going. Felt really comfortable talking to her the whole time...

Before I could even make the suggestion, she wanted to increase my Marplan to 60 from 50; and when I told her about the Klonopin-causing-depression problem, she listened to me and said that in that clinic she's prohibited from prescribing Xanax but we both agreed Ativan was a decent substitute. She also (without me asking, but it was in my notes!) wants to put me on Synthroid at my next visit if the Marplan increase doesn't do it for me.
(TSH at lab 2 weeks ago was 2.08)

Open-minded, bright, kind, and no ego problems. I couldn't ask for more!

I am in a good mood right now, and that's a good thing! Will keep you all posted.

DX: Major depression, treatment-refractory

RX: Marplan 30mg b.i.d. (60 total)
Ativan 0.5mg 1-2 prn anxiety up to 2x/day
Temazepam 30mg qhs sleep

Zonked congrats and yes ativan is a good med. I've taken it before. Happy for you. If you had seen an endo they like to keep TSH between l-2. So the synthyroid is a good option. Phillipa

Phillipa--thank you, as always, for being a pillar of support for me.

Mood has been normal all day!

It better stay within the normal range, lol--I got a lot of stuff done today I've been postponing for some time. Attention span and interest have increased.

Right now I am in the DMV getting my replacement ID --a week ago this would have been UNFATHOMABLE due to anhedonia/social anxiety.

Hope this sticks! Will continue to update.
