Nardil - Hard to breathe

Posted by BlueM on May 23, 2010, at 16:27:27

Anyone have a feeling of it being hard to breathe on Nardil? I updated my does 1 week ago from 45 to 60 and the difficulty in breathing seems to be getting worse. I'm thinking I'll as my pdoc on Monday either way.

I'm thinking the difficulty in breathing is due to stopping Xanax - I took 0.25mg last night and within 1 hour the feeling went away - I was trying to stop taking Xanax and did not have any mental feelings of withdrawal, but obviously there is also the physical aspect which I was not counting on. I'll talk to my pdoc and see what he recommends - being on Nardil - I don't feel like I need the Xanax any more.

Blue that's such a small dose also. Gee you must really need it. What's your total dose of xanax a day? Any other sedative type meds? Phillipa

Hi Phillipa - that's it 0.25 I only use it for night time anxiety - I'd wake around 3am and not be able to get back to sleep. That doesn't seem to be a problem on Nardil - I'm sleeping fine on 60 mg and don't feel anxious - emotionally, but I guess my body is what's causing it. I did notice today around 5pm that the difficulty breathing was coming back - I don't take it till 9pm, but it wasn't like it was the other day - I really thought I was having heart problems or asthma, but I have no history of either, which is why I decided to try taking the xanax. I'm still going to talk to the pdoc, but it doesn't seem as urgent now. I'm pretty sure it's just physical symptoms of a panic attack. I've been on the 0.25 at bedtime for 4 years - I've very seldomly needed more.

Glad to hear it's not a problem anymore. Phillipa
