Depakote experiences...

Posted by SheilaC on February 15, 2010, at 6:50:19

I am curious as to why this happens:

Depakote Sprinkle capsules made me nauseous and tired all day. Also, very flat personality.

Depakote ER tablets - made me swell and nauseous

generic depakote tablets seemed to be fine without side effects.

Why is this? Is it because the brand name is stronger than the generic?

Or is the formulation different? Is the plain old depakote tablet EC broken down slower than the ER formula?

Confused.

Sheila, personally, I have no idea, I'm just glad you found a form you can tolerate :)

How are the headaches? Have they abated any? I saw your post where you rated them an eight! (I'm so sorry!)

I finally had to give up the stimulants. I just couldn't take the headaches and the totally exhuasted feeling at the end of the day.

Since I cannot tolerate Effexor, I am trying Pristiq again. I found that it helped a lot with my ADD/ADHD symptoms. The reason I stopped it before was because it caused such terrible stomach problems. Now after I have a big meal, I take my Pristiq (this is day 3) and so far no stomach problems.

I do know that I need a mood stabilizer, so I am trying Depakote.

The only side effect from Depakote, besides slight nausea, is a shaky feeling. I'm hoping that both of those go away.

I think Pristiq and Depakote may be my combo.

Shelia, that would be great--a simple solution--not too many meds. I hope it works!
